A/N: Oh, my Gosh, I'm so nervous about this chapter. I just really hope you like it. And pah-lease let me know what you think, OK?

Chapter 16 – Rush

Next thing I knew I had smashed that little dusty machine to a wall.

Breathing heavily, trying to slow my heart down, even hoping to calm my whole spirit down. Mission impossible. I failed. I didn’t even know why I had thought about it, if it had been so impossible from the start. But the voice, his voice kept playing in my head. So, I didn’t know him? Or did I? Stop. Like he said, stop wondering.

I kneeled down beside what used to be a properly working radio and collected the pieces. Now I need a new one. I sighed, my heart rate still fast. I rested my head against the short brown dresser closing my eyes. Even if my life depended on it, I can’t stop thinking about you. The sudden ringing of my phone woke me from my dreams. When I answered, I heard a nervous Jenna stuttering.

“W-what the hell w-was t-that?”

I bit my lip. “I guess it was him.

“Man, t-there was a moment when I had already began to think it w-was someone playing with you. Maybe even a girl,” she sighed in relief. “But damn, he’s got one manly voice.”

I rolled my eyes, letting out an unsure laughter. “Yeah, who would’ve thought he’d actually call in live!” I lay on my bed, staring at the ceiling. “I kind of need a new radio, now.”

“Why? What happened?” She asked, already calming down. “You smash it to a wall?” I mumbled a quiet ‘yes’. “Wow, I thought it only happens in movies. Then again, you’re life sort of is like one.”

“And my plan has once again come crashing down,” I shook my head slightly and rolled over, stomach against the purple blanket. My hair was falling on my face, hiding me behind curtains of brown. I buried my face into the blanket and groaned. “What the fug am I supposed to do now?”

“Well, you can still confront Joe and Howard,” Jenna said, but I heard her voice was unsure.

“It’s neither of them,” I murmured, wondering if Jenna could hear me as my voice was blocked by the blanket. I pushed myself up and walked towards kitchen. “But…yeah, it only leaves me with a ‘but’ and a bunch of ‘maybe-s’. If it’s Howard, then of course, I don’t know that much about him. If it’s Joe, then…Well, it can’t be Joe, he’s like my soul mate. If it’s Jace, then same case goes for him as for Howard. If it’s a new guy, then…” I trailed off as I spotted someone standing at my door. How come I never heard the doorbell? But then the figure disappears. “Weird…Anyways, it’s all a dead end for me, I think. I’ll call you later, I think someone’s outside.” Without waiting for Jenna to reply, I ended the call and, from the hall, tossed my phone on the couch without looking where it exactly landed.

I opened the door, suspiciously scanning the area, but there’s no one. I stepped further outside when I accidentally kicked something with my foot. Instantly, I looked down to find a white box. I raised my eyebrow. What’s that? I bent down and grabbed the bow in my hands, glancing around to make sure nobody is there. I’d preferred it to be vice versa. The thought of someone who might be the one, makes me jump. But no, I returned inside quite dissatisfied. I exhaled and placed the thing on the kitchen counter.

“So, tell me what you hold inside you,” I said with a snort and removed the cover. I didn’t bare to look inside. I took a deep breath and let my eyes slip over whatever it held. There was a CD, not an original one, but a CD made for me. I bit my lip, smiling. The butterflies were released and I had to sit down to stop myself from fainting. A perfect gift, except…I no longer own a radio.
