A/N: Read the epilogue, and then read the author's note below.
EPILOGUE
Evan moved away. I still spoke to him over the phone, sometimes. His mom had got a job somewhere else. He was telling me about his plans to go to college. I knew our paths would lead us further apart.
He wanted to go study creative writing, whereas I thought about studying psychology.
Senior year was the best. George and Lilly were still together, Joe was dating Alexa. Things hadn’t worked out for Ramona and Jack, but they had remained friends. But as months passed, they spoke less and less to each other. Jack went to pursue his career as a music producer.
Jenna and I started going out more, we even went to a club once, but I decided it didn’t suit me. Dancing – fine. Loud music – bearable. The people? Sorry, but I’m not sorry, I didn’t like the crowd.
And Jace and I? We were taking things slowly. We hadn't quite defined out relationship. We weren’t exactly friends, and we weren’t boyfriend-girlfriend. He did take me on dates, but we didn’t want to label it as a relationship. But my feelings were growing.
I kind of knew that eventually, when senior year was over, we would never see each other again. But to my surprise, he was very into trying the whole long distance thing.
And Howard – he hadn’t spoken to Evan.
I finally found out the reason Evan had told him for playing my secret admirer. He’d said that it was a prank. That when he heard I was speaking to Jace, who Howard kind of hated, he wanted to play with my emotions, cruelly.
Howard had taken it into heart. He couldn’t forgive Evan for pretending to be someone else to hurt somebody who he didn’t even know. Howard felt it was evil.
I tried to remain in contact with Howard, but life goes on, and our paths winded away from each other. I stayed near my home and went to college there, but he decided to leave town. So he left his sister and mom. I hadn’t heard of his father, but he was supposed to be somewhere. And that somewhere was where he went.
A/N: First of all, how did you like the story?
Secondly, was the solution obvious?
Check out the spin-off with Howard as the main character, called Blue Howard.
Also, if you want a light read and you like poetry, read NeverlandWolf's story Chasing Crows.
