That night when I came home I decided not to tell my family about Angelica.

When I approached the house both of my parents' cars were gone. My little sister Isabel was at ballet practice, so it was just me. I liked that idea a lot.

I fumbled through my bag and grabbed my keys out. When the door finally opened I entered the warm house, shut the door behind me and locked it.

I decided to go get a hot shower to calm my nerves and relieve my stress. I took off up the steps taking two at a time. I stopped when I heard footsteps down stairs I peered down over the railing. I looked down and there stood Melany.

"What are you doing here Mel?" I asked her kind of confused. She said, "Mom told me to come get the work I missed, and I wanted to see my best friend." Her voice was softer than usual and she spoke slow. I brushed it off thinking maybe it was because of the cold outside. I was hesitant but said finally, "Come on up to my room I will catch you up." Melany started up the stairs and we were in my room in no time.

We sat there in an awkward silence. An odd silence that seemed eerie and chilled me to the very core. I stared at Melany, knowing she was hiding something from me. "Mells?" I asked. She looked up at me. "Yeah Kate?" She replied slowly. "I was uh, just uhm, wondering if you happened to hear about Angelica from school." Melany's eyes widened. "No Kate, what about it?" She asked, her ice blue eyes fixed on the wall behind me. "Melany they found her dead this morning. She was stabbed to death and then hung in her closet." I stated. Melany let out what seemed like a little giggle. "Serves the bitch right!" She snarled. I was going to ask a follow up question but decided against it. "What will we be doing the rest of the week?" Melany asked changing the subject. "I don't know, why?" I asked her. "I may be out for the rest of the week." I quickly looked up from my text book. "Why?" Melany sighed. "I'm taking care of my Aunt Bella, she's very sick." I stared at Melany trying to figure out that she was hiding. I built up enough courage to finally ask, "what is going on with you Mells?" Melany looked at me like I just kicked a puppy. "You know what it's nothing you need to know about, I'm just going to go now." She said her voice cold and dry. I watched as she left my bed room. I didn't say much to anyone the rest of the night, I just stayed to myself with thoughts clouding up my mind
