Five years later
From time to time I still catch a glimpse of Melany and Jason watching little Hunter. it doesn't bother me as much and Hunter knows about the "two people that watch him". Or that's what he calls them. I call them his guardian angels.
Hunter is five now. I can't believe it. He looks so much like Jason. It's amazing to feel like I still have Jason around me. Little Hunter will be starting school in less than a month. I know he's ready, he's so smart.
Things are great with Hunter and I. We have been married for five years and are expecting our second baby. This one is a girl and I've been pregnant with her for seven months. We are naming her Carrie Marie Wells. Little Hunter is very excited to have a baby sister coming soon. We have everything she needs. Her room is pained pink and furniture is white and black.
Mom and dad still live next door and are doing great. My little sister Isabel is about to graduate from Riverside High School. she's an honor graduate. She has all A's. I'm very proud of her. Once a day mom comes over and helps with Hunter. it makes things easier because I can't do a lot being seven months pregnant. I'm so thankful for my mother. She's been so strong for me trough all of this. Dad comes over when Hunter gets home from work almost every day to visit with him.
Hunter still works every day and comes home and helps me a lot. I'm so glad I found him. We are in love and love to be around each other. He has been a great help with little Hunter and the pregnancy.
Monday 10:00 AM
"Mommy, the people who watch me are crying." Little Hunter said to me. "Baby why were they crying? I asked him. "they are sad mommy." He replied. " Do you want to stay down here and play"? I asked. He nodded his head and went to his toy box in the corner of the living room. He has one toy box in almost every room. All of them full of toys. As he played I checked my emails. One in particular caught my eye, it was from Gretchen.
Hello Katie,
How is little Hunter? I know I haven't been in touch for a long time and I'm sorry for that. I would like to pay you and your family a visit. please call me!
Love always, Gretchen.
I flipped through my address book and found Gretchen's name. I dialed her number and she picked up on the second ring.
"Hey Katie how are you? " she asked.
"I'm pretty good." I said to her.
"Listen I saw your e mail about stopping by for a visit how about you come over tonight and we will go out for a dinner?" I asked.
"Okay that's great" she said. "when should I stop by?" I thought for a moment. "seven will be fine."
"Okay see you then!" She said.
"Okay." I said and hung up my phone.
Gretchen showed up at seven just like planned. Hunter opened the door while I was getting little Hunter's shoes on. I picked him up and carried him into the living room. "baby you shouldn't be carrying him around." Hunter said when he saw me. He took him from my arms and held him. "oh Katie! you look gorgeous!" Gretchen said when she saw me. I stepped around Hunter to reveal my belly. Gretchen smiled and grabbed me. "oh look at you"! she said. "what are you having? how far along are you?" I smiled a little and said, seven months, a girl, were naming her Carrie Marie." by this time Hunter took little hunter to the car and fastened him Into his booster seat. "well let's head to the restaurant." I said to Gretchen. "Okay, Hunter said to ride with you all." "alright, I can sit in the back with Hunter." I said. "No, Katie your pregnant you need to sit up front." I agreed and we loaded into the car. Throughout the ride and the dinner we talked and laughed and had a good time.
Later that night:
The baby didn't like the food i had eaten that night. I was up all night throwing up. It was around 3 am when I had another encounter with Melany. I stood up off the bathroom floor and leaned against the wall. I was weak from throwing up. I looked into the mirror and Melany was right beside me. I looked over my shoulder and there was nothing I looked back and she was in front of me.
"Take care of my baby." She muttered. Her eyes were purple and popping out of the eye sockets and she had bruises on her neck. "i am Melany." I was able to choke those words out. It was terrifying seeing her that way. I closed my eyes and slowly opened them. She was gone. I felt a hand on my stomach right were the baby was. There was nothing there. I looked down at my night shirt and there was a small heart and a note wrote in marker. Under the little heart said welcome new baby ❤️ aunt Melany.
I began to cry a little. Hunter came in to check on me. "Honey what's wrong!" he asked. I showed him my shirt and he held me the rest of the night
