The days in riverside went by very slowly.

They finally decided when they were going to bury Angelica Preston.

The whole student body was going to attend, and I discovered my black dress had gotten too small. "Time to buy a new one." My mother said. I nodded as she handed me a one hundred dollar bill and handed me her car keys.

As I was driving down the highway to the little fancy dress shop in the mall my phone rang. It was Melany. I pressed the button that turned my phone calls into the radio. "Hey Mells." I answered. "Katie!" She was crying. "What's wrong Mells?" it seemed to me I asked her this question every other three days. "My parents" she finally said "they're dead!" I froze. I found the nearest gas station and pulled over. I switched my call from the radio to my phone. "What!" I said. "Someone poisoned them." She said. "Oh, Melany." I said. "Can I come stay with you?" she asked. "Of course." I said. "Listen I'm in town right now pack up what you need and I will have Jason come pick you up." I told her. She agreed with me and we hung up.

I picked up my phone again pulling out of the parking lot of the gas station. "Hello"? Jason answered. "Are you at home"? I asked "I need you." I heard him move around a little, going outside I guessed. "Yeah what's wrong Katie"? he said his voice kind of weary. "Melany's parents were poisoned, there dead, I told her to come stay with us and I'm in town can you please go get her?" I asked him hoping he would. "On my way. Do you want me to tell mom and dad?" He asked. "please?" I ask him. "Ok." He said and hung up.

I pulled Into the dress shop parking lot. "Simple and black" I told myself. "Enough to wear to four funerals now." I told myself.
