Kai awoke to soft slivers of light escaping the blinds in front of him and falling onto his handsome face. The man smiled softly and turned onto his side. Looking for the warming embrace of Mia, yet the spot beside him was vacant. Instantly the man sprung up out of bed, his head snapping in both directions looking for the young girl.
"Mia"? The man called out softly, yet there was no reply at all only the sound of air blowing through the open window. Instantly the man threw the warm duvet off his body, and sprung up off the bed. Kai immediately searched through the room, no sign of the girl in sight. The man walked over to the door, and threw it open. The 8 am hallway was dark and dreary, the man took quick steps as anxiety seeped through his bones. Kai immediately sprinted down the stairs, his mind only focused on one thing, Mia. At the base of the steps he turned on the balls of his feet and peeked his head into the living room.
A small body tucked under a thin blanket met Kai's worried gaze. A visible sigh left his soft lips as relief flooded through his body, tiredly the man entered the cold living room. Fully eyeing the sleeping girl, her face was calm. Kai crouched down in front of her, as quietly as possible the man leaned close to the girls pretty face. His hand itched forward, tenderly pushing some of her long brown locks out of her freckled face.
"Why did you wonder down here"? The man asked softly, his voice barely above a whisper. The girl remained still, sound asleep, the only indication of her being alive was the slight rise and fall of her chest.
Knowing that the others would soon be awake, Kai knew he should move the petite girl. So, not only could she have more privacy and so she could get a longer and un-interrupted sleep. Tenderly the man laced his arm under her knees and around the curve of her back. Gently Kai pulled her up into his chest and away from the couch, the man easily began carrying the girl up into her room. Slowly the man walked up the stairs to the end of the hallway and into to the room on the right. With the door wide open Kai easily turned his body to the side, to prevent hitting her head on the door frame. The man turned his body back forward once getting through the door, approaching her side of the bed and gently set her down on the mattress. Kai tenderly pulled the duvet up over-top of Mias body, and gently whisked a few pieces of hair away from the brunettes sleeping face. The man pondered in silence for a moment, as to why she left in the middle of the night to sleep on the cold couch. Kai let out a silent exhale, and slowly turned around walking to the open door. Glancing backwards one last time, Kai looked upon the sleeping brunette.
The man said nothing and closed the open door behind himself silently, as soon as Kai was in the vacant hallway a sound from the downstairs pulled the man from his groggy state. Scratching the back of his head tiredly, Kai began walking down the dark hallway down to the staircase. The man mindlessly wandered down the the steps until the fumbling became louder. Easily Kai located the sound, it was coming from the kitchen. The man slowly approached the open entrance of the kitchen, peeking his head into the entryway. Kyungsoo's small body stood in front of the stove, fumbling with a frying pan and the burner heat.
"Kyungsoo, what are you doing awake"? Kai wondered out loud, his small friend blankly turned around, a egg tightly in his hand. A small smile pulled onto Kyungsoo's face, as he cracked the egg over the pan.
"I never sleep, especially not with this kind of job". The man spoke freely as he turned up the heat on the stove, Kai pulled back a bar stool and sat down at the island located in the centre of the kitchen.
"I guess". Kai replied sceptically, as he watched Kyungsoo cook, the man turned around the crackle of the eggs playing in the back round. Kyungsoo clicked his tongue off the roof of his mouth, Kai eyed the man before him suspiciously.
