Wheezing because of the cold, I struggled to walk towards the laundry shop. Taking a cab was expensive, so I decided to walk even though it's cold. I squeezed my hands inside the pockets of my jacket.
To be honest, my part-time job schedules seemed to be a match made in heaven. Why? Three workers of the laundry shop have a day off on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I am just a reliever for them. Luckily, in the Japanese restaurant I work in, I have these days as my rest days. Therefore, I don't have any trouble when it comes to my schedule.
I'm a lucky bastard, huh.
Today is Monday, by the way.
The temperature dropped after Christmas, and it's new for Dowoon and I. Good thing Aunt Aki brought a heater when she visited, or else Dowoon and I would be frozen for good. Also, Sungjin gave Dowoon and I a pair of black winter gloves. He said that the temperature in Busan during winter is unpredictable, so it's better to be prepared.
I smiled.
Yesterday, Sungjin and I held hands as we walked home.
I resisted the urge to let a squeal out.
We were quiet on our way, but it was not an awkward silence. In fact, it was relaxing. We're just... walking side by side, feeling each other's heat through our intertwined hands. It was peaceful.
And I love it.
He squeezed my hand from time to time. He also hummed a tune of a song I've never heard of as we stepped inside the elevator.
Ah... the elevator.
I took a deep breath and stopped smiling like an idiot because a woman I just passed by gave me a weird look.
Our apartments were on the 6th floor. I watched the numbers in red LED lights change slowly as the elevators went up. Then, my eyes shifted on the mirror just above the numbers. I stared at myself for a moment, then I met Sungjin's stare. He was staring at me through the mirror.
There was no expression on his face. He's just... staring at me blankly. It caught me off guard, so I averted my eyes right away. But then, I felt his hand squeeze mine, tighter than before. It made look back on the mirror again. This time, his lips curved into a half smile. His eyes glinted and gave off a nice feeling that made me feel butterflies.
I couldn't resist it, so I smiled at him and squeezed his hand back.
The laundry shop in front of me stopped me from reminiscing what happened yesterday. I took a deep breath and opened the door. A woman sitting on the desk greeted me. She was applying her make-up when she looked at me.
"Ah! The new one!" Her high-pitched voice filled with energy rang in my ears.
