I will stick to the 3rd person point of view and past tense from now on because it is easier to write this fic lmao I'm sorry for the inconsistencies.

...

The ticking of the clock was already loud enough for Jae to wake up, but apparently his heartbeat was louder than the ticking. He didn't know which woke him up, but now that he's awake, he just stared at the ceiling with his arms and legs spread out.

They didn't celebrate the New Year like they usually do. It was a cold night – a quiet, solemn night. Jae could not forget the look on Juliene's face when she went home that afternoon. She was drenched in snow and looked unhappy. After that, she didn't come out from her room not until dinner. Aki couldn't do anything about it, nor Dowoon, nor Wonpil and him. It was expected, since it was the day she talked with Younghyun. He hated to admit, but everyone in that household were sad.  Juliene remembering her past should have been a good thing – a happy thing, but to them, it was not.

Especially to Younghyun.

Again, the pain Jae felt for his friend was too much. He sighed and closed his eyes.

'No.' Jae thought to himself. 'Now is not the time to think of these things.'

Of course, since from now on, he would be living with Juliene and Wonpil. From now on, his life would be on the line, just like what happened 11 years ago. He's back in that old world of his – the "dark" world, as he called it.

Jae opened his eyes and stared at the ceiling again. He remembered about the reason why they moved to Seoul right after Younghyun left.

They were cleaning Aki's house, and Jae was in charge of the storage room. The storage room was filled with their suitcases, boxes, chairs, and etc. While he was cleaning, he noticed a small, gray suitcase in the corner of the room. He removed it from its place and examined it. It was just an ordinary suitcase, but Jae's gut told him that something about this suitcase was wrong. He laid it on the floor and opened it. As expected, there was nothing inside, but Jae's gut told him that there was -- that there should be something inside.

He searched the small pockets and dividers inside the suitcase, and his gut was right: there really was something inside.

He took out a small leather notebook. Curious, Jae opened the notebook and scanned its contents.

It was a diary.

Jae continued to scan, and he couldn't believe what he was reading.

It was not just an ordinary diary, it was an assassin's diary.

Jae knew what was coming the moment he was on the last page. His heart was beating so fast and so loud for he knew the person who owned this diary.
