Along the Way: [Noctis X Reader]

Chapter 5: The Archaean

[Name] POV:

You wake up from bed seeing everyone gone so you hop out of bed, get ready, grab your leather jacket, and head down to the hotel's lobby.

As you reach the lobby, you notice Noctis hanging around, with no sign of Ignis, Gladio, Prompto, or Iris.

You were approaching Noctis when he turned around, seeing your cute, and tired face.

"Finally, you wake up" He said with a small smirk on his face but you were still a little tired from shopping the other day, so you didn't protest but did manage to ask in a tired voice, "Where are the others?" "Not sure, when I woke up, they were gone too".

He stated, rubbing his neck in awkwardness as a warm feeling started to fill his cheeks but he broke the eye contact between you two, not to show him turning red.

You didn't ask, but did receive a call, and as you checked the caller I.D, you noticed the name.

Cor.

You picked it up, trying to not sound like you just woke up. "Morning, listen, I found another Royal Tomb" "That's great, where is it?" You asked and as he told you, the call ended. Noctis approached you and asked, "Who was it?" "Cor, he found another royal tomb".

You looked up at him, not noticing how close he had got to your face.

Noticing the awkwardness, Noctis pulled back, and asked, "Why don't we explore Lestallum? I assume you haven't been someplace like this" You nodded in agreement and followed him outside as you noticed the food vendors, the stores, it was beautiful.

The two of you went to the sight seeing spot where lots of people were admiring as Noctis spotted another familiar face.

"Hey guys!" Prompto greeted as you noticed Ignis and Gladio at a table, enjoying some food possibly from a vendor.

"I just got a call from Cor, he said the next royal tomb isn't too far from here" You said to the other 3 as they all nodded and you and Noctis started heading back to the Regalia as he asked, "So, [Name], what do you plan to do after this is all done with?" His words flooded your mind as he began to process.

You weren't sure, because the KingsGlaive is probably done, and you had no where else to go, besides the castle.

It was a question you had never been asked before, and it surprised you because for the first time,

You realized you've forgotten what it was like to do..this.

For years, your mind was set on the royal family with your job as a glaive.

Now this is possibly your only chance of letting yourself go.

You don't know what to do.

"I..don't know."

Noctis POV:

We were heading to the Royal Tomb that [Name] said it would be from Cor's instructions. I was so busy sightseeing at scenery, I didn't even notice [Name] had fallen asleep with her head on my shoulder.

Guess she was still tired.

I moved her bangs from her face, and noticed how beautiful her face was just from sleeping.

"We have arrived" Ignis stated as we stopped at some gates which had opened as I carefully shook [Name] up.

[Name] POV:

You lifted your head slowly to meet sapphire eyes you were all too familiar with. You take a look at your surroundings inside the car to notice a opened gate that we all headed toward when we exited the car.

"Is this it?" Gladio asked "Only one way to find out" Noct said going down the path the gate opened to as the rest of us followed down.

We arrived at the royal tomb, which was out in the open, which you thought was unfamiliar. "That must be it" You asked as Noctis went to obtain it. "Let's just grab it, and get out of here" Gladio said with an annoyed tone.

As Noctis had obtained it, there was a large tremor that made the ground crouble.

"Get away! Quickly!" Ignis ordered at Noctis but Noctis held his head in pain as he tried to run back. He ran over to him. "[Name]! No!" Ignis called for you.

You tried to get him back to the safe area, but the ground fell apart underneath the both of you.

He slid down the crumble slope and was about to fall, when you reacted and grabbed his wrist before he could fall and then you quickly pulled him up.

"T-Thanks" Noctis said exhausted as he looked at you, a little scraped up. "No problem, you ok?" You replied but Noctis held his head in pain once more.

"Are you guys ok!" Gladio asked as both of you looked up seeing the other 3 about 50 feet up. "Yeah, you?" "We're fine-We'll try to find a way to get down to you!" Ignis replied as Prompto said with a scared tone, "We're doing what?!"

Prompto's scared tone wasn't at all comforting, but he tried to ignore and help the two of you out of this debacle you've gotten into.

The ground started to shake when you told Noctis, "We better get moving" You walked until the two of you found an extremely narrow path that was the only way to the other side.

"Looks like there's no going back from this." "Don't mention it." Noctis went first, carefully moving as you slowly moved afterwards.

"My head.." "Just try to keep moving." You worried for his safety and knew what might happen if he gets another headache.

Suddenly, the ground started shaking again. Making Noctis miss his footing and nearly fall, but you quickly jumped and pushed him over to the other side, landing safely but harshly.

Shaking your head, you pushed yourself up opening your eyes seeing you were on top of Noctis. He gave you a small grin as you tried to avoid his gaze, as you quickly stood back up and tried to continue walking.

You guys were walking up a path when all of a sudden a large fist came barreling towards Noctis.

"Look out!" Noctis flinched, but you pushed him out of the way, enough so he wouldn't be taking the full blow.

The both of you slid on the gravel, but as Noctis was able to quickly get back on to his feet, his wandered to your fallen self on your side.

"[Name]!"

He stumbled over to you. Trying to wake you up, calling your name continuously.

You could hear his voice, fading.

..right before everything turned black.
