Chapter 15: Stand By Me

3rd Person POV:

After your death, Niflheim fell, and magiteks were out of commission, and it wasn't long before people started returning to Insomnia, and Noctis prepared himself to become king.

Today was his coronation, and after the ceremony, he stayed in his room, he never liked big ceremonial parties, and still doesn't.

He didn't know how to be a king if you weren't there by his side.

It's been a few weeks, but Noctis couldn't get you out of his head, especially how you sacrificed yourself to save him.

He looked out his bedroom window, looking over his kingdom as it soon began to rebuilt from the ground up. He sighed, he wanted to change the past, but he at least wanted to see you one last time.

He picked a rose from a vase that was on his nightstand, holding it in his hand and walked out of his bedroom.

He walked over to a special place in the castle, it was a small memorial, a picture of you, and the gang on a pedestal in the middle, with flowers surrounding it.

Noctis placed the rose down on the pedestal sighing looking at your portrait. He wanted to imagine your death as a just a nightmare, but, he couldn't, after the things you and him did for each other.

Noctis suddenly heard a faint laugh, it echoed in his head as he perked up, looking for where the sound was coming from.

But, reality hit him and he thought it was just his imagination, haunting him once more.

He walked to your room, memories began to flow in his head, your smile, your laugh, your strength.

He never wants to forget you, and all things you did for the KingsGlaive, his dad, and him.

When he opened the doors, he walked out onto the balcony that clearly showed the sunset, he placed his hands on the railing when he heard the same laugh.

Noctis turned around, seeing a girl, in a [F/C] dress, standing in front of him, smiling.

Noctis recognized the girl as he couldn't help but smile, he thought his eyes was playing tricks on him, but he realized it wasn't a trick.

It was real.

"I wish to be with Noctis again.."

"Is that what your heart desires?"

Without hesitation, you replied. "Yes."

King Regis smiled, hiding the slight sadness he still carried.

It was a shame he wouldn't be able to see his son live out his days that he hoped to see with him.

But now, it filled him with pure happiness knowing he'd be able to reunite him with the one he loves.

And to him, Noctis' happiness was all that mattered to him.

"Very well.."

"Take care of Noctis for me, [Name]."

you smiled at him, nodding.

"I will."

You looked at him, your [E/C] eyes meeting his bright, sapphire ones.

Noctis' grin turned into an open smile, his blue orbs saw you, while his mind was constantly thinking, that it was just an illusion.

But, no.

You were there.

He walked towards you, and placed a hand on your cheek as you held it in your hand.

Where the mandala once was.

Noctis was speechless, you couldn't believe you were here, alive, and with him.

"[Name]...you're here, I-I can't believe it!".

"I wouldn't miss you coronation, would I?" You joked, as he lowered his hand onto the back of your neck, pulling you closer into a kiss.

You placed your hands on his chest, as you closed your eyes.

You started off this journey protecting Noctis, and then, you had fallen in love with him. You'd never imagine the choices you'd have to make to get up to this moment.

But...no matter the hardships the two of you faced on this adventure...

It was all worth it in the end...

He pulled back, inches away from your face, smiling back at the face he loved. Noctis wrapped his arms around your waist as you wrapped your arms around his neck when he whispered something.

[Name]...

Will you be my queen?
