"The baby...Elijah...the baby. Don't let it die!"

Amelia grabbed her husband's arm tightly and looked at him with deep pain and desperation. She couldn't really breathe anymore as she chocked on her own blood coming up her throat. Her words were barely a mumble and were hard to understand.

"No one will die."

Elijah growled and carried her to the table which he had cleared of anything with a swift motion of his arm. Trinkets broke on the floor and books clattered and landed upside down. When Amelia's back touched the blank surface, she screamed and bent her back in a nearly impossible angle. The Original held her down so she couldn't hurt herself and whispered to her.

"I'm here, my love. I'll protect you and our child. You'll survive."

He kissed her sweaty forehead and she seemed to calm a bit, still she panted in pain and fear. Her eyes shut close and she fell into unconsciousness, which was a good thing, as Elijah hoped that she won't feel that much pain anymore. At least he heard her heart beating steadily.

Elijah turned around, covering his face with his hand, trying to clear his mind to think. Freya joined him and she looked at him with wide eyes.

"Brother, we need to do something."

The soon to be father couldn't hold it back anymore. He grabbed a chair standing next to him and shattered it on the wall, close to Freya's head.

"Yes, I know!"

His sister flinched and guilt washed over him shortly after. This was driving him mad.

"Elijah! Calm yourself you won't help Amelia that way."

Hayley came into the room and looked at Amelia scared, still she was able to keep somehow calm. Elijah looked at her and shook his head, barely holding it together. But she was right, he had to stay at least a bit calm and help his wife.

"We need to get the baby. Now. She needs a C-section."

The woman shot him a horrified look, not believing what he just said.

"Don't you want to get her to a hospital or something? With real doctors?"

The Original stepped closer to the hybrid, his tall, broad figure more intimidating than ever. He wasn't fair, but at that moment he couldn't trust Hayley. She disliked his wife really much after all.

"Wonderful idea, have you seen her condition? Do you really think she'll make it to a hospital?"

Elijah's voice was full of sarcasm. Hayley wasn't of much help here.

"The baby may die if we get it that early, Elijah, do you want that?"

He growled again, urging her to get of his face. She just crossed her arms in front of her chest and looked him right into the eyes. Of course she cared more for the baby than for Amelia. She was a mother. But Amelia was Elijah's redemption, his safe haven, the person that kept him from madness. He couldn't loose her.

"I will not let that baby grow up without a mother! You of all people should understand that. Hayley, if you really want to help anyone here, go to the study and get the small leather bag out of the first closet."

They exchanged a long gaze, before his former lover sighed and went out of the room. Elijah then rushed back to Amelia's side and held her hand tightly. She was waking up again, her heartbeat was far too quick.

"Amelia, please fight. I love you. I love you so much. We have a bright future in front of us. We'll be a family and our child will live a loved, protected childhood. And if it just inherits half of its mother's character, it'll grow to be a wonderful person."
