"Do you remember at all what it's like to be human?"
As Amelia and Elijah turned to leave the cemetery, Vincent stops Elijah in his tracks. This night he had gone off the rails. He had killed 4 young witches. To be honest, Amelia had slit their throats with the ceremonial blade, because Elijah had assumed that she somehow had a relation to the witches. But Elijah had the idea and they both agreed that this was just collateral damage to fulfill their plan to kill the Hallow.
The blood of the witches still was on her shivering hands. When Vincent and her completed the ritual, she felt all of the ancestors' rage reaching out for her. She could still hear them screaming traitor. Of course they were right to call her that. She herself was a vampire and she did nothing to help any witches with her remaining powers. Today, she put these girls at risk and she didn't hesitated a second to brutally kill them.
"No, not really."
Elijah answered, deep in thought. Amelia felt the same way. She remembered images from her time as a human, but she couldn't feel it anymore. The memories of her child had faded away, she knew that she loved him, but she didn't know what it was like to love a child anymore. It was horrible, one of the most precious things to loose, but she couldn't change that. The rage, the hatred was everything she had left. Or at least she thought so.
In the last days she had thought about her bond with Elijah and declared herself crazy. She couldn't feel drawn to a man that ruined her whole life. Of course, she had get to know another side of Elijah Mikaelson, but still, this was the same man that murdered her mother and herself. But if it was the way she thought it was, she couldn't do anything about it. It was her fate. She begged for her master to tell her otherwise.
Amelia was ripped out of her thoughts when Elijah lightly pulled at her arm. She had missed that lousy speech Vincent had given them and she followed Elijah out of the cemetery and back to the compound, where he poured them a strong drink. The heretic drowned it with one sip.
"Despite the fact that we nearly killed 4 children for good, you seem to be in an extremely foul mood today."
She shot the Original a glare. It was frightening for her that he saw right through her. Amelia let out a sigh.
"I just found something out about myself, that pretty much doesn't fit in my plans."
Elijah smiled and did something that she never had expected him to do. He gave her comfort by picking her legs up the floor and placing them on his lap so she could relax better. She looked at him with a confused glance.
"Why are you nice to me? You know that my ultimate goals are not in your favor."
Still smiling, he placed his hand on her lower leg and caressed her skin lightly.
"I somehow have the feeling that you're not as evil as you pretend to be. And I think that I could understand your motives, if I would know what I did to you."
He put two and two together the night he killed that human in front of her. Elijah must've done something horrible to her or something she cared for, but he couldn't remember. He started to doubt his own mind.
Amelia looked away for a long time, fighting how good it felt when he touched her.
"You really want to know?"
Elijah frowned when he saw tears in her eyes. He wanted to wipe an escaping tear away, but she turned her head away from him.
The Original leaned back and nodded. Never had he seen this woman so vulnerable.
Amelia hesitated for a moment. Was she ready to show him? But at some point, she had to. They were getting closer in the last day, fitting together perfectly as partners in crime. Elijah needed someone to help him with the dirty work, as he wanted Niklaus to stay out of all the murder for his daughter. And he needed someone that didn't judge him as Hayley did.
