Amelia was proud of herself. She kept strong tonight, something she taught she had lost some time ago, when she grew to closer to the family she watched for over a thousand years. Her tears weren't shed, she had fed recklessly and she felt more power inside her than ever. The devil would be pleased when he would arrive. Yesterday the thought came across her mind that she should throw her original plan away and just try to live a somewhat happy life with Elijah, but she was dazzled by his charade of gentleness and care. That couldn't happen again.
When she entered the compound again together with Rebekah and Kol, a quite odd scene played in front of them. Elijah stood eye to eye with Neil, Hayley's boyfriend. The hybrid girl tried to talk reason into her lover, but he just angrily pushed her away.
Amelia's husband was deadly calm, arrogance in his features. Even tough he knew the wolf was right about his Hayley's and his fault, he wouldn't let himself be disrespected.
"You have the audacity to touch my girl? After you and wretched family of bloodsuckers left too many weight on her shoulders to bear? You of all people that blamed her for not rescuing you family, while probably getting killed because you made yourself quite some enemies over a thousand fu***** years?"
The first blow hit Elijah's cheek, sending the Original down.
"Elijah, don't!"
Rebekah yelled, keeping her brother from defending himself against the werewolf. He was so much weaker than Elijah was. With a flick of his wrist he could break his neck. It would be so easy...but he summoned all of his restrained and just stood while Neil hit him furthermore.
"Neil, please..."
The wolf just shook his head.
"You don't get a say in this. And don't dare coming home. I don't even know why I even came to this stupid hypocrite marriage. We all know he doesn't care a shit about her."
Amelia saw Elijah's fists clench, but Neil punched him in his jaw again. The heretic vampire took a step forward, raising her hands to send the wolf into the wall with her magic. She couldn't watch this anymore. But Klaus' arm stretched out in front of her, blocking her way.
"Don't. He has to pay his debts. I know you care for him, you can stop pretending that you don't."
She gave the original hybrid a long death glare but stayed silent.
After some seconds of silence, Neil turned around an walked towards the exit. He stopped at Amelia's side, placed a hand on her shoulder and squeezed it lightly. Amelia looked at him annoyed, not feeling comfortable with him touching her, even if he meant well.
"Seems like we chose the wrong partners, huh? I'm sorry, I honestly am."
She gave him a nod and he continued on his way. Again silence erupted, but Amelia broke it by walking up to Elijah, reaching her hand out to help him up. He gladly took it and looked deeply into her eyes. Amelia quickly examined his face, he was fine, except from his dislocated jaw. Without saying anything else, she went up to his bedroom, tagging Elijah along. She pushed him to his bed and placed her hands on his jaw to help him set it right, but he tried to take her hand away.
"Come on, don't be a pussy. I did this a thousand times before."
He rolled his eyes and sighted, letting her do her work. A loud snap was heard when she corrected the dislocation, but Elijah didn't make a sound. It must've hurt like hell.
"If you feel the urge to break my neck or any other bone you wish for, do it now."
Amelia just shook her head annoyedly and turned around to walk out of the room.
"I deserved that. I'm sorry."
The heretic stopped in motion but didn't face him. She couldn't look at him right now, she knew her emotion would take the best of her.
"Yes, you did. And as I told you there's no need to apologize. I'm ok with it. Maybe I should do that myself, it's actually clever to have someone outside this mess."
They all have been right. Vincent, Neil...He didn't gave a damn about her. She hated herself for being hurt.
"Amelia, yesterday and today...it was real. I love being together with you, I haven't enjoyed anything like that in a long time. And I destroyed it with having one moment of weakness and for that I'm sorry."
She shook her head again and turned around, anger in her eyes.
"That's the thing, Elijah. Hayley's your weakness."
Elijah stood up, trying to fetch her hands, but she refused to touch him right now.
"No, Hayley was my weakness. She's my past and sometimes you make the mistake and look over the shoulder and see what's chasing you. I made this fault too often. It'll never happen again. You're my future, Amelia."
Tears pooled in her eyes. How could he have this effect on her? Why did she even feel so much? She felt her connection to the devil weaken when she married Elijah. She thought it was just because he came out of hell. But know she assumed that wasn't the case. Amelia cared deeply for him, but she didn't want to accept that.
She stayed quiet because she would sob and cry if she tried to speak, which would embarrass her even more.
"I care for you. Please, believe me. I never thought I would fall in love ever again after Hayley, but then you, out of a sudden, walked into my life. It's not a burden to be married with you, Amelia. I'm happy it's you."
Silent tears wetted her face and she looked down on her feet. Her hands shivered, her heart was racing. Elijah lifted her chin and dared her to look at him.
What he said touched her deeply. She still was disappointed in him, but she also felt loved for the first time in her life.
He bent down and kissed her slow and gently.
But suddenly, Elijah froze in motion and sunk down on the floor with a groan. Blood came out of his mouth and flooded the floor under him, as it pooled out of wound in his back.
The thorns. They stuck in his flesh like a deadly rose.
Amelia couldn't scream, she just stood there and shook, her eyes wide in shock. She tried to move, but her body wasn't in her control anymore.
But her whole attention was on the person in front of her. The person, that just stabbed her husband.
"Hello, Amelia. It's a pleasure to finally meet you in person."
The voice was so familiar, but not the way she expected to.
It was Elijah's voice she heard.
It was Elijah's face he wore.
His chocolate eyes bore into her's and he smiled cruelly.
The devil had arrived.
