"RON!" Hermione screams, then all is silent.
A moment later she walks into the tent, tears glistening on her cheeks, "He didn't even turn around," she sniffs. "Just walked to the edge of the wards and disapparated."
Harry pats the cot next to him and she sits. He puts an arm over her shoulders and after a gentle tug, she leans against him, her head on his shoulder, "He's been grumbling almost since we left the Burrow. I think the Horcrux just brought it all up to the surface," Harry says.
"I don't care," she sniffs, "He made a promise, the same one I made. How can you back out of a promise just because things aren't what you expected?"
"I think he was expecting us to make better progress. It's been a few weeks and we've made no progress. Maybe he's right...maybe this is a waste of time."
She lifts her head to look at him, "I don't believe that. Dumbledore gave you a mission and thought that you'd be able to do it. I trust that he made the right decision. I'm with you all the way, Harry. We'll finish this, with or without Ron." Then she huffs, "Right now I don't care if he comes back, he and I are through."
"You're breaking up with him?"
"He left us. Left me! I've been such a fool to keep letting him in every time he screws up. I've had it! No more. We are done."
Her head tips back to his shoulder and her body is shaking as she softly cries. Harry puts his other hand on the shoulder further away from him and in a flurry of motion she puts both her arms around him and hugs him hard. Her face is buried into the side of his neck and her tears are hot on his skin. He slips his hands down to her back and just holds her while she cries herself out.
