After I got home from helping Danny my mom pulled me into the living room.
"Mom? What's going on?" I ask.
"YouhaveadoctorsappointmenttomorrowIjustwantedtoletyouknowIwashopingyoucouldgetthehomeworkfromsomeone." She bursts out frantically.
"Yeah, mom. Sure. I'll get it from Danny. Is there something wrong? You're acting really frantic. And where are dad and Jackster?"
She takes a deep breath.
"Cosie, honey. Your little brother and father are in the hospital." He words hit me like a physical blow.
"What? Why? Was it because of a car accident?" I shriek.
"No. Your brother had a checkup and they found-" she stops to gather her breath.
"They found early traces of Leukemia."
I collapse onto the floor.
"COSETTE!" I hear. But it's distant.
That's when I lose consciousness.
