Dan's POV

It has been two weeks since Dan had moved into his new flat with PJ. A week, already.

The journey there, for Dan anyway, had been, well - uncomfortable. Dan hated travelling on public transport, and him and PJ had to travel to their flat by train. It had been hot and crowded, and Dan felt as if his personal space had been violated at least every 10 seconds. An elbow in the ribs, a shove in the side, the occasional "Sorry" muttered. They had had to stand for the first few stations before they could finally grab two seats for themselves.

But what had made Dan most uncomfortable, was the fact that a pair of teenage girls had gotten on the train about halfway through the journey. They had spotted Dan and PJ sitting together, pointed at them and giggled. Dan had felt his face go bright red and PJ nudge him in the ribs and wink one of his dazzlingly green eyes.

One of the girls was short, with medium length dark chestnut hair and stormy grey eyes. She was wearing a black t-shirt and blue denim shorts. White converse adorned her feet. She didn't seem to care about the two boys on the train. But the other girl, who was tall, with sandy hair pulled up into a ponytail wearing a black and white striped crop top and dungarees with black sandals giggled as she caught PJ and Dan's eye. She whispered something in the girl's ear that Dan could just about hear.

"Look at them! They're both so cute! And those eyes... they're just so damn green!" The shorter girl rolled her eyes and stifled a laugh.

"You're so stupid sometimes" she said and gestured to the train at large. "So... are we gonna find seats or stand here like weirdos while everyone stares at us?" The ponytail girl laughed.

"Definitely stand here like weirdos." And to Dan's astonishment, there they both stood, chatting away as people got off and on the train, and still they stood, even when seats were available. Finally their stop came, and the ponytail girl walked over to where Dan and PJ were sitting. She stuttered and blushed before asking "Can I see your watches?" Dan thought this didn't make any sense whatsoever. Why would she want to see their watches? She would probably know if one of them were her soulmate.

PJ looked like he was about to say something, but Dan interrupted. "No, no you can't. Neither of us are your soulmates and would you kindly leave us.... please?" The girl looked sheepishly at PJ. "Well, I guess that's ok, if you want to keep it private. I've still got five years on mine." She sighed. The train doors opened. The brown haired girl grabbed her friends arm and said "Come on, we need to get off now!" She was blushing too, but from embarrassment from her friends actions. "I'm so sorry" she said to Dan, smiling a little. "Bye now." And they were just walking off the train when the ponytail girl cried "By the way, my name is Alys and you can Snapchat me my name's x_.alyspops._x" . She was pulled away by her friend, the doors closed and the train pulled out the station.

Dan sat now, on his new bed in his new apartment, thinking about that train journey two whole weeks ago. PJ had laughed about it afterwards, but Dan had just felt awkward and embarrassed, and he still did now. He didn't like social situations at the best of times, especially with girls, unless of course it was his good friend Louise. Alys was a girl. She had engaged him in a social situation. Ugh.

Ugh ugh ugh.

Neither he nor PJ had snapchatted her, and weren't planning to. He glanced over at the digital clock on his new desk, a white lacquered thing that was plain but practical.

11.47pm

Ugh. He needed to stop saying (and thinking) that. Now he needed to sleep. It was his first day of 6th form tomorrow. According to his watch, tomorrow was also the day he would be meeting his soulmate. The butterflies had returned to Dan's stomach and were flapping their papery wings ferociously, flying high and low and looping and who knows what. Dan just knew he felt extremely, crazily scared and thrilled for the moment the clock finally reached zero.

Dan supposed he should be excited and hyper and bouncing and not sleeping and waking up PJ and -

and what?

He didn't know. He was scared and that was that. He needed to sleep now. Mind still on his butterflies, Dan drifted into a deep, dreamless sleep.

"Wake up Dannyfire you lazy oaf!" PJ shouted in Dan's ear the next morning, hitting Dan's half-asleep body with a pillow. "Get up get up get up get up get up get up get up get up GET UP DANIEL JAMES HOWELL I'M WAITING!" PJ sighed and said forlornly "I guess I'll just have to eat the first day of sixth form pancakes by myself then..." Dan leapt out of bed and whipped his head around.

"Pancakes? Who? What? Where? Pancakes!" Dan turned and faced PJ. "Peeeeeeeeeej..."
"Yeeeeeees"
"You know you're my best friend and all..."
"Yeeeeeees"
"Can we make some special first day of sixth form pancakes together?"
"Oh alright Dannyfire. But only because it's you."
Dan pulled a silly grin and ran to the kitchen, already daydreaming of pancakes.

The kitchen was small, tiled in black and white, with mint green appliances, a white fridge-freezer, a black sink, and a small silver stove.

"Leeeeeeet's make some pancakes Dannyfire!" PJ shouted to the empty kitchen, grabbing a wooden spoon and wielding it in the air. "PJ, you can stop calling me Dannyfire, just call me Dan. He also went to one of the kitchen drawers and pulled out a spoon.

PJ looked offended. "Oh, is it just Dan now then? You're all grown up for 6th form, so you're just Da-"
"Shut up, can we just make pancakes now, I'm hungry and if we don't make them now we'll be late.

Fifteen minutes later, Dan and PJ were sitting at the small white dining table, each with a plate of pancakes.

Dan, with his mouthful, said to PJ "So then Peej, I wonder what our first day is going to be like..." PJ pointed his fork at Dan. "Well your day will certainly be better than mine, seeing as your going to meet your soulmate and all." Dan finished his pancakes and looked at the wall clock.

7.06am

"Peek I'm going to go get ready now seeing as I find want to be late on my first day." Dan left the kitchen and PJ and went back to his bedroom.

The bedroom had pastel blue walls and a soft grey carpet. The bed had a metal frame and a fairly comfortable mattress. On the white desk, was Dan's digital 'telling the time' clock, and his laptop. He quickly got changed into a plain black shirt and some jeans, before grabbing his school bag, which he had prepared last night, and walked to the front door to wait for PJ. He only took a couple of minutes.

"Come on you slow coach" Dan said with fake annoyance. PJ just laughed. "Now you know how I felt two weeks ago." Dan pushed him out the door of their new home.

"Lets go."
