Dan's POV

Dan slowly opened his eyes, taking time to adjust to the morning brightness filtering through the windows. His head was spinning, pounding, aching with the images of his nightmares.

His hand immediately went to his side, where he last remembered feeling Phil's arm around him. Phil wasn't there. He stretched out onto his back, and called out softly: "Phil?"

Quickly he looked over to check that PJ and Tyler weren't going to start mocking him. They were both out cold. He called out again, slightly louder.

"Phil?"

"Dan? Are you awake?"

Dan still couldn't see him, but he could hear his voice, probably from another room.

He nodded, then realised Phil couldn't see him, and replied, "Yeah, where are you?"

"Um... I needed coffee. I'm tired, ok? And I figured Tyler wouldn't mind. I mean, this is Tyler we're on about. Do you want any?"

"I'm good."

Phil walked into the room, mug in hand. He looked slightly pink in the face, though he had no reason to, Dan thought.

"Hi" Phil smiled down at him, his eyes still slightly misty from sleep. He drank some of his coffee, then put it on the floor by the side of the sofa and sat down next to Dan.

"Hey." Dan looked up lazily up at him, and lifted his arm involuntarily to pull Phil toward him, but realised at the last moment and pretended to stretch it out as if he were yawning.

Phil, Dan had suddenly noticed, was sitting right next to him. Dan rested his head against his shoulder. Tyler and PJ were asleep, so it didn't matter so much if he showed... affection... did it?

After he had done this, Phil looked startled, but happy. Dan was glad, he felt happy too. Here with Phil, why wouldn't he be?

"What's going on with you?" Phil asked, looking down at him. Dan tilted his head so he could see Phil's face.

He laughed lightly. "A million different things that you wouldn't understand."

Phil raised an eyebrow. "Really?"

If only you knew.

"Yep. You have no idea what's going on in my head. Not at all."

This made Phil look slightly disgruntled, and Dan suddenly felt guilty.

"No. It's just... my mind is a weird place." Dan finished awkwardly, but was relieved to see Phil's face relax.

They sat in silence for a bit, Dan's head still on Phil's shoulder, his heart doing backflips.

Can I stay here forever?

It felt so, so familiar, even though he had never snuggled up to Phil like this before. As if they had done this a million times, like they were soulmates.

Phil's POV

It's all I want, Phil thought, as he sat, over the moon, with his arm around Dan. Sure, maybe what Dan thought was different to what he thought, but he could still cherish the moment while it lasted.

PJ began to stir, and Dan practically leapt away from Phil. Phil knew why. He knew Dan didn't want him seeing them closer than a few feet. And curled up together didn't exactly follow those guidelines.

"Morning." PJ mumbled, stretching his arms in a wide arc and yawning. "Tyler up yet?"

Phil saw Dan shake his head, and PJ then went and pushed at the heap on the floor.
