Night 4: What the Heart Yearns For

The stars twinkled over the night sky in the tiny archipelago of the remnants of the Plato Navian civilization. While the rest of the Plato Navians were in their houses getting prepared for bed, Denarra had invited the six to join her for a little night swimming (Did you know that despite their termite-queen-and-insect based centaur forms, breeders could swim? Dunno how they do it though.). Now it would have been that everyone was having fun, but out of the corner of her eye, the priestess had seen Jamie, walking slowly beside the strand.

"Jamie," Denarra said as she slowly approached her from behind, "You do not seem yourself today."

"I am fine," Jamie quickly replied, bowing her head quickly and quickening her pace away from her also-breeder friend.

"That does not look fine to me," Denarra replied, speeding up a little bit more to catch up with Jamie.

"I said, I am fine," Jamie replied, trying to run away from Denarra. She picked up the pace even further, and ran towards one end of the beach, where sand met rock. She definitely knew that the eternally pregnant and wingless Denarra would not catch up to her, and so she took to her wings and flew a bit towards her destination.

When Jamie arrived at her destination, she landed right on the soft sand just before the rock pool. She looked left, she looked right, then she looked behind her. Everywhere, there was no sign of Denarra, and she breathed a sigh of relief. But when she looked back again to her front, Denarra was RIGHT in front of her, standing on the rocks. A shocked Jamie fell backwards on her back, her six long insectlike legs raised into the air and the line at the very end of her massive termite-queen-like rear right in view of Denarra.

"What are you? A breeder or a monster?! What sorcery is this?" she exclaimed.

Denarra slowly walked towards Jamie's human half, faced her, and replied, "To answer your compound question, I am a breeder-like priestess, sorceress, and witch doctor, and I can see that you are straining yourself to hide the fact that your immense six yard something butt is full of insect eggs." She offered a hand to lift Jamie up, and she took it, pulling herself up.

...

When Jamie was already upright (and her "needs" well met), Denarra then asked her, "What troubles you?"

"I told you. There is nothing wrong with me," Jamie replied.

"That's what I'm not seeing," Denarra replied, "I can see what's inside a person." Immediately after hearing that statement, Jamie covered her habits with hands while facing Denarra with shock written across her pretty face. Denarra laughed, her silver-white hair blowing in the wind. "Not that kind of 'inside'!" she exclaimed, "I can 'see' the thoughts, feelings, and deepest yearns of everybody I meet --- including the, uh, fetishes."

"Then," Jamie asked softly, "What do you see?"

"I see a heart, wounded by depression, bruised by betrayal, and charred by conflict," Denarra replied. At those words, Jamie's eyes suddenly widened, and the breeder immediately rushed over to the priestess and began to weep on her shoulder. Denarra placed a hand on her head and gave her a gentle pat, smiling and saying, "It's okay. Let it all out." She then wrapped her arms around Jamie's upper body in a hug.

...

When the tears in her eyes welled up, Jamie decided to tell her whole life story to Denarra. She told about how she turned from princess to pauper (technically, a rich "pauper") because of a single incident; how she became successful in the internet; how she met Vincent and spent time in prison with him, eventually learning that he was a 'special' like her; how she spent time with his family and caught up with her true family; how she survived in the hospital from a sickness and a killer on the loose; and finally, how Vincent broke her heart and how it brought her close to crippling depression and pure sadness.
