We both exchanged handshakes and both took a drink from our cup.
"So, how do you know Eric?" asked Josh.
"My best friend's boyfriend knows him. His name is-"
"Trey? Yeah, I know him too. He thought I should throw a party so I can meet girls and crap.", he stated.
" Yeah.", I said looking at him and smiling. Then it came to me.
"Wait a sec, aren't you the guy that hit on me at the-"
"Pizzeria? Yeah. Sorry 'bout that.", Josh said shyly.
"No, you don't have to be sorry.", I reassured him," I actually kinda needed it. I mean, I haven't had a boyfriend since high school." Josh gave me shocking look.
"Really?! That seems hard to believe. I mean, you're really pretty.", Josh complimented. A small smile appeared on my face.
"Do you have a girlfriend?" I asked curiously.
"Me? Oh I don't have a girlfriend. Well, I used to. She cheated on me with my brother,Andrew. Her name is Katherine." He hung his head low and then looked back at the dancing crowd. I could relate to where he was coming from. My last boyfriend, Jacob cheated on me with my cousin, Keke.
"I could relate to you. My ex-boyfriend cheated on me with my cousin.", I said drinking my last sip of orange soda. He looked at me and smile.
The rest of the night kind of just dimmed down. Girls were waiting in line for the toilet to vomit, thirsty guys were still trying to hit on girls, drunks flopped on the floor and Kenny and Karyne were STILL making out by the refrigerator. Me and Josh talked the whole night and laughed a bit too. The song "Body Party" was booming through the speakers.
" Do you wanna dance? I know both of us haven't danced this whole night.", Josh said, bringing out his hand to me.
"I would love to." I smiled. As we walked to the dance floor, I could see Leayah and Trey dancing together romantically. Me and Josh started dancing slow, his chest on my back. Josh grabbed my hips as I swayed them to the beat and started singing the chorus.
"You know how to sing?" he asked.
"Yeah. Why?" I questioned.
"No. It's just.... you have a very angelic voice.", Josh said. I blushed and he spun me around, our eyes meeting. I could tell that both of us felt all objects stop around us. It felt like it was only me and him on the dance floor. We both looked in each other's eyes, we both was leaning in until....
"I'm tired, Leah. Are you ready to go?" whined Leayah. Me and Josh pulled away and we both looked at Leayah.
"Um...yeah..yeah I'm ready.", I sadly said. I grabbed my coat and headed out the door. Trey had to carry Leayah bridal style since she fell asleep. As I was heading for the car, a hand grabbed my wrist.
It was Josh.
"Hey. Um... I know we just met and all, but i wanna see you again." Josh nervously said, placing his hand behind his neck. I smiled and chuckled.
" And I was wondering...if I could get you number. If that's okay with you, of course."
"Sure." I said, grabbing a pen from my bag. I retrieved a napkin from my purse and wrote down my number.
"Call me. Anytime.", I said, waving goodbye to Josh. He waved goodbye back and I got in the car. As we drove away, I looked back and waved to him again. He waved back and smiled.
Maybe coming to this party did have some good in it.
