"Alrighty, I'll go get him." The lady behind the counter said as you handed the papers back to her.
"Okay then." You whispered.
You watched her enter a code in a door and disappear into a room. You pulled down your shirt a little and brushed the hair out of your eyes. You were consumed in looking more presentable when Ryan walked out. He looked tired and beaten down. Once your eyes met his he smiled. You nearly gasped because you've never seen him smile like that.
"Thank god it's you." He smiled and pulled you into a bear hug. Keep in mind that he was much taller than you.
You smiled into his chest, loving the feeling of his arms around you. Unfortunately he pulled away because you guys were still in a mental hospital.
"Come on lets get the hell out of here." Ryan said with a goofy smile.
You nodded and he held your hand. You walked out and got into the car.
"Hey Ryan. I'm sorry." You said.
"Sorry for what?" Ryan asked and tilted his head like a puppy.
"Oh, um. I'm sorry for posing as your (girlfriend\boyfriend). I had too." You looked out the window of your mothers van to escape from the awkwardness.
"You can pose as my (girlfriend/boyfriend) whenever you want. I won't mind. " Ryan laughed.
"Speaking of, we should go out sometime. " Ryan said.
You blushed and it felt like your throat swelled up. You nodded because you couldn't speak at the time.
"Cool then. Why don't we swing by a coffee shop tomorrow, after school?" He asked.
"Y-yeah. Sure. We can make out the time and where later at school then?" You stuttered, surprised by his sudden boldness.
"Sure- OH MY GOD." Ryan stopped mid sentence and looked down.
"OH SHIT." He said.
"What?" You asked slowing the van down in case it was an emergency.
"Those bastards forgot to give me back my shoelaces." Ryan laughed.
Your started laughing at his reaction to his missing laces. You were just glad that he was okay.

If you were wondering why the mental hospital took away his laces, it's because they can be used to kill yourself/other people with them. The reason I know this is because they did that to me when I was in for my depression and suicidal thoughts. Don't worry, I'm all better now!
