I was five years old when one night my parents got scared of something I had said while tucking me in to sleep. My mother told me this when I asked about it:
We walked into your room to say good night like we always did. But you were smiling really widely and you seemed exceptionally happy while you were sitting on your bed waiting for us. When your father tucked you in, he asked "Are you happy tonight?" and you replied with a simple "ar ndóigh (it means "of course" in Irish) ".
So obviously, we got confused as to why you would be so happy to go to bed, so I kept questioning you. I asked you "why are you so happy?" And that's when we started getting really freaked out. Because you said "I'm happy because soon my friends will talk to me" your father thought that you meant you were staying up on your iPad texting, but when he asked you if that was the friends you were talking about, you shook your head.
I kept asking you who those friends were and you finally said "The friends that like the dark. They talk to me a lot! And they also visit me too!" Since we didn't remember any of your friends coming over recently, I asked you when they visited you. After your reply, we decided it would be best to leave the room for awhile. Because what you said scared the shit out of me and your father. You said "They visited me last night. When I was sleeping. They were talking to me and telling me how much fun it is to kill people!"
