Dedicated to summerbackthen for the amazing new cover which I can't stop looking at.

14) All I Wanted Was The Extra Bacon

"Okay so hypothetically speaking if you went on a holiday and needed someone to feed the dog and cat wo-"

"Mace I love you and all but no, I wouldn't give you a key," Charlie shakes his head, obviously over my constant nagging about giving me a key to his house.

"But I'm your best friend," I whine getting the attention of the few people sitting around us "I might need the key for emergencies in the future. What if your house was spontaneously set on fire or the mafia decided to use your house as a hideout and planned to kill your family while you were on holidays? Also, can we talk about James, I don't trust that guy, and he seems really sketchy. He's way too young and irresponsible to have a key unlike me." my stomach growls in agreement

Or maybe I'm just hungry. I get an Oreo cupcake out of my bag, I was saving this for lunch but now seems like a better time to eat it.

He rolls his eyes "One, you would lose the keys within the first day of having them because you suck at keeping things safe, two you would most likely flood the house out if the house did end up getting set on fire for some absurd reason and finally-"

"Miss St Clair" Mrs Beehag standard in front of our desk glaring down at us with her thickly rimmed glasses. "I believe I asked you a question."

Wait, was I supposed to be paying attention, "Ah yes, that um intriguing question that is obviously about the amazing book we were reading, " I look to Charlie who is no help as he shrugs his shoulders.

"Blue" I say with the utmost confidence.

"Blue?" She questions crossing her arms and looking at me sceptically.

"Mhmm. Blue is the colour of the cover of the book as well as the main characters eyes. The book is also set by the beach. And the water at the beach is blue. The colour is significant throughout the whole book as you see the character's connection to the sea and how they lose all worries while they are there. But also how at the same time they are slowly drowning under the pressures of society. When you drown you are known to go blue. So you pretty much become blue in a blue ocean which is-"

"Mackenzie!" She stops me in the middle of my amazing exclamation. I was on a roll.

"Next time please pay attention in class. And don't eat in here either unless you want to share it with everyone. You know the rules."

Let me get this straight. She wants ME to share MY cupcake with 20 other students? She must be delirious if she thinks I would willingly give someone else my food.

So I do the only sensible adult thing I can think of and lick the cupcake.

"This is English, not Math Mrs Beehag, so there will be no dividing of the cupcake. And let's be honest, splitting a cupcake into twenty pieces is almost as painful as watching me stumble through a speech on poetry ." I say with a sweet smile

As soon as the bell rings a rush of relief goes through me. Finally. This day has dragged on forever. I quickly scurry out of the classroom, trying to avoid the large stampede that will crush me.

Thankfully there is nobody in the toilets when I get there to change into something more comfortable than a tacky school uniform.
I wear a loose white shirt with 'I'm somebody's favourite' written on it with a pair of Jeans. I almost brought tracksuit pants but decided against it as apparently, they're not 'appropriate' to wear outside of my house.
