For everyone that has laugh with and at Mackenzie. Thankyou. She wouldn't be here without you guys.
I wasn't originally late, in fact, 20 minutes ago I was pretty much ready to go. That was until everything I needed suddenly vanished. A great example is a purse that I found after digging through my closest but then misplaced when I got distracted. I have put it down someplace in this apartment that suddenly feels larger now that I can't find anything.
It also seems that I have made a large mess in my room with the entire content of clothes piled high. Funny how when you need that one clothing item it is never where it should be. Zoe would take one look at my room and say I need to do a deep clean through my clothes, junk and soul.
I may have a slight hoarding problem that started when I would tell myself 'I will definitely use these chequered coasters and glow in the dark gnome'. The moment when you start finding things that you've never seen before. That's how you know you have a problem.
My stomach drops when I hear a rhythmed knock from the front door. The one day I lose everything he actually turns up on time.
"Yeah," I yell calmly as possible all the while running through the house collecting loose pieces of clothing that are littered around by result of cleaning out my room. "I'll be there in a second. Well maybe, I just need to-"
A hand holding an old shirt with 'my milkshakes are better than yours' stops me in my tracks. "Is there any particular reason why you're running around like a mad woman or are you simply that happy to see me?" I should have never given him spare keys. His lip twitches into a smile that is restraining him from bursting out in laughter.
I snatch the shirt from his hands quickly before continuing on my mad pursuit for lost items. "One of my shoes is playing an intense game hide and seek. It's doing a very good job as my left heel is still missing its partner in crime?" How I lost a singular shoe, do not ask me, I am just that talented.
Sams company only slightly slows me down as his searing gaze follows me around the tiny apartment I call home. He is absolutely no help just standing there, leaning against the wall like he owns the place. This is probably his entertainment for today.
"Now I swear I left it in my bedroom but by the power of observation and pulling my room apart I know for certain it is most definitely not maybe there." Thinking out loud helps sort out my thoughts from time to time. today I sound like a crazy lady waiting for the furniture to talk back.
"Mace."
I turn over pillows "Then again maybe it's under the couch, missing objects always seem to turn up there. The remote went under there once, it was never found."
"Macey."
"I never checked in the-"
"Mackenzie!"
"Hmm?" Swivelling around I turn to find a smug Sam holding a white heel by its flimsy strap. Inspecting it closely his eyes sceptically flicker between the shoe and me. "I'm saying this, considering both you and every other person's wellbeing." He pauses for unneeded dramatic effect "Are you sure heels are the best idea for tonight?"
Did I ask myself the same question multiple times before? Yes.
Did I also decide that risking death would be worth it after seeing the surprise on Sams' face when he sees me standing in the heel? Yes (because standing in heels isn't too bad, walking, on the other hand, is out of the question).
Do I think this night is going to end very badly because of these stupid death traps?"Yes," nodding with firm affirmation more to convince me as well as Sam who looks doubtful "I want to fit with the dress code tonight which I believe is formal wear. Google said that heels are the appropriate footwear."
