12) The Effects of Being Hangry
When the game ends we all decided that going out for lunch was a good way to reward ourselves of all the exercise we had done.
I also may or may not have been extra annoying and kept asking for food until Aaron and his friends got fed up and thought the best way to shut me up was to give me what I wanted.
Being sandwiched between two ultra-sweaty teenage boys in the backseat of a tiny car was not the way I imagined travelling with Aaron would be. If only I could reach my bag and get my floral deodorant to spray on them and this car. Maybe I should just get in the boot, I feel like it would be more comfortable there compared to where I'm seated now.
As we pull up to the small diner I practically jump over Joel to get out of the moving death trap. That car is not made to transport 5 people at once.
Entering the diner you can feel the blast of cool air from the air conditioner which is completely unnecessary with the chilly wind outside.
The place is decorated with records and CDs which made it look like we're inside a disco ball.
I follow the guys over to a large booth but as soon as they start to talk about football I blank out. Can you blame me? The only thing I know about the sport is that it involves a ball and tackling each other.
"Hey Mac, look over there."
I turn around to where Aaron is pointing to see Sam sitting in a booth with a girl who looks like she is about to pounce on him at any moment. He probably used some cheesy pickup line to trick the girl into thinking he's charming. I hate how he can sit there and get away with being a total jerk. I'm not going to let him get away with that stupid paintball incident.
"I'll be right back," I slide out my seat and quickly make my way to the bathroom. Looking in the dirty mirror I take my hair out of the braids and mess it up to look like bed hair. Much better.
Taking out the lipstick that Zoe gave to me for 'emergencies' I quickly apply it to my lips. I think payback is a very high priority right now and calls for some drastic measures.
Leaving the bathroom, I stride towards Sam ready to commence mission 'Red in the Face' or 'Die Sam Die' whichever comes first. I walk up to the booth where Sam and the brunette are almost sitting on top of each other. This is going to be fun.
"OMG! SAM? What are you doing?" squealing in a high pitch voice easily gets the attention of a surprised brunette and confused Sam. I continue "You said you were at your grandma's funeral this weekend. So I came up to surprise you, to you know be with you in this tough time. But I guess you never really wanted to see me, did you? Lies. That's all that comes from your mouth. Lies I tell you!" by the time I finish my mini freak out the whole restaurant is watching us.
Sam goes to speak but I interrupt him, I'm enjoying this too much to stop now.
"When you gave me that promise ring after your last," I sniffle to add some emotionally dramatic effect "incident I really thought that you wanted to try and work things out, to get more serious about our relationship. I thought you'd changed. I guess I was stupid to think that one-day," hiccup "we might end up together," I put on my best pouting face.
"Wait. Sam, is this your girlfriend?" the girl says looking between me and a very dumbstruck Sam "I'm so sorry. You deserve so much better than him," I nod while covering my face, trying to hide my laughter.
She turns to Sam "Don't you ever let her go," then she does the most beautifully unexpected thing. She slaps him. Thankfully not hard enough to leave a mark that will make him want to kill me later on.
