A Different Ending

"I must have died. This can't be happening." he was slack jawed.

"But it is darling, they're alive." Remus had tears in his eyes when he watched James lunge at Sirius and crush him into a hug. Sirius grabbed for Lily and pulled her in and grabbed Remus and crushed all of them in a hug.

"But how? How are you alive? Your bodies were gone and Voldemort was dead. What happened?"

"You can't kill him." That was a James said.

"Who can i kill?"

"When you see who saved us you can't kill him got it."

"Fine. Who do i own many thanks to?" Sirius said sarcastically. James turned around and motioned for Peter to come, he quickly put a hand a Sirius' chest. He saw his lover's eyes turn into pure fire and the sight of Peter.

"Sirius..." He warned but he was ignored. Sirius growled his dog like growl startling Fudge.

"You bloody rat! What are you doing here and why haven't you been killed?"

"Because i'm not about to let the person who saved our lives be killed Sirius." Lily snapped at him and stepped in front of Peter.

"You can't turn your on back family Sirius." James said softly as he stood next to Lily.

"Remus are you on my side?" He turned his head and did his puppy dog eyes.

He shook his head and looked down at the shorted man. "I was the first to forgive him, he's the reason i'm still here along with James and Lily."

"Yes but he betrayed them! How can you forgive that?" He was shouting now.

"Because he didn't want to, like James said. You can't turn your back on family, even if you want to. What if i was Peter and you were me, and you knew i thought i wasn't strong enough to even be friends with you so i gave in. But the minute i did i made a plan to save your family and mine. Could you forgive me?" He spoke softly in Sirius' ear and looked into his eyes searching for some recognition that he could forgive.

"Well he was weak enough, he wanted to run away from war originally!" He was calming down and didn't look as angry but he still looked as though he could jump and kill Peter.

"I'm not talking about during the war, i'm talking since we were in school. He thought he was to weak to be friends with us then, when it was just pranks."

"Pete you actually thought those things? Why?"

"Yeah. You were just all smart and talented and knew you wanted to fight and James had a target on his head since like second year and he still wanted to fight. I was always thrown in the background of the Marauders. I was just unsure i doubted everything i did and everyday wondered if you would stop being friends with me the next day. That day never came."

"How many times do we have to tell you? Your a bloody Marauder!" Sirius looked on the verge of tears and Remus didn't know why.

"Sirius he didn't want to, you're going to have to trust him. Please, for me; i just want my family together again."

"For you." Nobody else heard it but Sirius looked at him and nodded to the exit. He nodded and lead him out. James was laughing a little bit back from them. "Oi Prongs why are you bloody laughing?" Sirius barked behind him.

"I don't understand how you can go from wanting to kill him to giving him a confidence boost you knew would work? I was right it's not i your nature to turn away from someone you cared about."

"Wow its amazing James was right for once." Sirius grumbled and you heard their laughter ringing throughout the prison startling people.

"Oi i'm right about things. Would you like a list?"
