A Different Ending

Distraction

 "What was that?" She tried to look stern but they put on their most innocent faces.

"That was part of James' charm." Sirius managed to wheeze out after having another fit of laughter.

"Ok then, if you don't mind i have some questions of my own that won't be published." She sat back down behind her desk and summoned the tea set over again.

"Yeah ok what's up Ms. Bowen?" James was lounging in his chair much to Lily and his dismay.

"First call me Melissa you only need to call me that for interviews." She had a wide smile on her face.

"Well then Melissa fire away." Sirius tilted his chair back like he would in school. Remus pushed his chair down but he just tilted back again.

"Ok then, how are you so upbeat and like yourself after ten years of Azkaban?" She leaned forward like a true reporter.

"Well i had some good advice to keep them from ruining the best memories so i did that. And our little secret helped a lot; doing it would give me a breath of fresh air and they affected me less."

"And your little secret is...." She raised her eyebrows.

"Jail worthy." He said it very short and casual.

"So it would be very bad if the Minister found out?"

"Yes very, that's why it's classified information."

"I see so it wouldn't be very good to tell someone very high up in the Ministry. Next question, how did you guys do it. You just popped up random place and could avoid teachers and Prefects."

James looked to Remus and he nodded, this was fine to tell people. "So there are a ton of secrets passages throughout Hogwarts and we wanted to know where they were. So we made an enchanted map that showed up secret passages and everyone in Hogwarts." He looked so happy to be talking about the Marauders Map.

"So you had a piece of parchment that just had little dots with names all over it?"

"Yep."

"And you did this in you third year i'm guessing. That's very advanced magic."

"It took a lot of work, but it was worth it."

"It was one of the secrets to our pranks. The other was Moony of course." Sirius interjected.

"Yes and i remember have to perform counter curses on James and Sirius and was told they were exed by Evans. That wouldn't have happened to be you Lily?"

"Definitely me they got hexed a lot from me."

"Yes and what happened?" She waved a hand abstractly to James and Lily's intertwined hands

"He grew up and learned how to be a nice person." She shrugged and Melissa just laughed.

Just then and owl flew into her window and as she read the letter a grin spread over her face. "Ok then you will be pleased to know that this distraction is over and Professor Dumbledore and Professor Mcgonagall are coming to meet with you about getting Harry back." Lily squealed in delight and started to stare at the fire.

"Excited there Doe?" Sirius chuckled.

"You would be to if your were about to get your child back from your deranged sister. Wait i remember when you found out i was pregnant you freaked out because it was your child to." She said cooly with a hint a sarcasm in her voice.

"Trust me on the inside i'm freaking out i just stare at fire places."

"Hey you get to see Mcgonagall again aren't you excited about that?"

"I forgot about that! Lily let's stare at the fireplace together." He turned around and started to stare with her.

Melissa looked to Remus with a bemused expression. "Are they always like this?"

"Yeah it's quite scary when they argue over who James loves more." He James was amusing himself by distracting Sirius so Remus continued the conversation.

"They actually do that?" She looked surprised as she watched Sirius elbow James in the side to get him away while he watched the fire place.

"It's a serious question, James and Sirius are brothers and James and Lily are James and Lily. When Lily told us she was pregnant Sirius started cry with joy, then started freaking out about how he couldn't handle a baby he could barely keep himself alive." She was laughing and Remus just nodded recalling the memory. He looked to his friends and Peter had joined James in bugging Sirius. They had given up on Lily after she slapped James across the face for getting in her view of the fireplace and tried to kiss her.
