I Grew Up

I grew up in a time where being yourself was a crime and being different meant death to your soul,
I grew up in a time where suicide was one of the only options to get away from everything going wrong,
I grew up! In a society where to be considered beautiful you had to hid your face under pounds of make-up,
I grew up in a time where you had to starve yourself to be consider skinny and "perfect!"
I grew up in a time where you had to just melt into the crowd in order not to be picked on,
I grew up in a time! That was messed up.
So let me give you a piece of advice,
Pick up the pieces,
Don't let the next generation be born into this messed up time,
Let them be born in a blessed time,
A time where they can be themselves, and be as different as they. Want.
