(Sarah POV)
I woke up with a splitting headache.
I had woken up out of my deep, peaceful sleep because I was being thrown around the back of some truck.
I wiggled around, trying to sit up, but my wrists seemed to be tied behind me, making it very difficult to sit upright.
Wait what?! I did not do that. I searched my memory to try and remember what had happened, but I came up blank. Suddenly, it all came rushing back to me.
The fire.
The drugged cloth.
The evil bloodsuckers.
"Crap" I groaned.
Realising something, I snapped my head up and looked around me until I spotted Jade, tied in silver chains with burns on her wrists and ankles, where the chains were touching her bare skin.
As if she could sense that I was looking at her, she snapped her eyes open and looked at me with true fear in her eyes. As soon as the fear had come though, she masked it with anger, determination and a little guilt.
She glanced at the guards, trying to sit up from the slouched position that she was stuck in, but the more she pulled at her chains trying to get free, the more they burnt her skin to a painful charcoal colour. Finally she settled back down, but she glared so fiercely at the guards that I thought he would melt from the heat of her gaze.
I glanced at Niamh. She had woken now, and was looking around, terrified out of her wits.
I wriggled and rolled my way over to her, to comfort her, but a guard grabbed my shoulder and yanked me back, hard.
"Um, what do you think you are doing, leech?!" I yelled with surprising confidence.
Jade let out a low growl, like she was warning him never to touch me again. He grinned viciously, and extended his blackened, yellowed fangs.
Jade, as if she could sense what was going to happen, started to strain violently against the chains keeping her captive.
All of a sudden, I felt my skin breaking, and an excruciating pain in my neck. I twisted my head back to see what the source of the pain was, and found that that creep had his crusty fangs in my neck.
Then I blacked out, for the second time.
