(Niamh POV)
Ryder ran considerably faster once we crossed into pack territory. I twisted back and Jonas was running full speed behind us, holding a still sleeping Sarah protectively to his chest. Jade was running at full speed too, barely visible darting between the trees, checking for any stray wolves.
Suddenly there was a growling and snarling coming from behind us. I looked behind us and saw three wolves giving chase to us. The one in front was pure black, to the right of him was a chocolate brown coloured wolf, with white splotches on his fur, and the last wolf to the left was a silvery grey. I locked eyes with the black wolf. He had warm brown eyes, that were focused solely on me.
I turned back round and locked my arms more securely around Ryder's neck. The snapping jaws of the wolf terrified me. He let out a ferocious growl as we lost eye contact, which compelled me to cling tightly to Ryder.
Just as I was about to tell Ryder that the wolves were gaining on us, I heard a piercing shriek that sounded like Jade. Ryder screamed too, and altered his course to the direction that Jade was previously running in.
(Jade POV) -A few moments earlier.
I was running full speed away from the wolves. To them, we were just rogues invading their territory, and they would kill us if they got the chance. I darted in between the tall pine trees, searching for any stray wolves that were sent to drive us towards the alpha, who was behind us and gaining. Suddenly, I caught a flash of white and brown between the trees. Judging from its size, and the way he oriented power: it was the beta. He came flying out of absolutely nowhere and knocked me over, which must've been pretty easy for him seeing as he was twice as tall as me, and probably weighed triple the amount that I did. He got on top of me and snapped his jaws. He leaned in, and knowing it was going for a kill shot by biting my neck, I screamed.(Sarah POV)
I woke from my second deep sleep that I had fallen into a god ten minutes ago when I heard a scream. Jade's scream. I instantly recognised it. I was in Jonas' arms still, and we were running full speed. I looked behind us, and there were three different coloured wolves chasing us. They were HUGE. I yelped in shock, and Jonas clutched me protectively to his chest, calming me down instantly. Then I remembered the scream. I scanned the area, but with my poor human eyesight, I couldn't make Jade out anywhere.I looked towards Ryder, knowing he would be wherever Jade was, and I could just make out the blur that was him and Niamh heading to the right, to a cluster of trees. I pointed to the trees, silently asking Jonas to take me there. He nodded, and raced in that direction.
Less than two minutes later, we arrived. Jade was lying on the ground, with her neck turned towards the side, blood pouring out of it. Ryder was bent over her, tears streaming down his face. Niamh was curled up in a ball, silently screaming her denial of the situation. A giant brown wolf with white splotches was sitting down whimpering, blood staining his muzzle.
Jade's blood.
My sisters blood.
I sat heavily down on the grass. No. I thought. No! This can't happen! She can't die. She cannot. I won't allow it. Suddenly, everything went blurry, and then faded into the familiar darkness.
"Sarah.." A voice whispered. "Sarah.."
Groaning, I sat up. I was in a meadow, full of beautiful poppies and other flowers. The grass was green, and there were trees surrounding the edges of the perfect circle that the meadow lay in. I shook my head. I wasn't here a minute ago.
Then the voice chuckled. "No you weren't Sarah. You are still where you were a minute ago in body, but in mind and soul you are here." The voice sounded sweet and melodic, echoing throughout the clearing.
"W-Who are you?" I asked out loud.
"Why, I am everything dear Sarah. I am the wind, the sun, the moon. Everything. I am The Goddess." She said.
"Why am I here?" I asked.
"Oh dear Sarah. You are here because you and your sisters each have a gift." The Goddess replied.
"W-what are our gifts? Is Jade's being half vampire?" I questioned.
"No." She said, "Jade being half vampire was purely an accident, she has an individual power, which only happened to appear when she turned vampire. Jade's gift is one she can barely control. Her gift is elemental, which is very rare. She has the fire element. Niamh, your youngest sister, has the power of healing. With one touch, she can heal anyone or anything, no matter how bad the injury. And you, Sarah, your gift is sight. You can see into the future, or past, and you can see through lies too."
"Wow." I muttered. "Wait, how are we supposed to learn to control these gifts?"
"Ah, well Sarah, Jade is having this dream too, as is Niamh, and you will each receive a gift, to help you control your power. Jade's gift will be a Phoenix, which can help her learn about her gift, and can also calm her down when she is too emotional, as she can easily lose control of her fire and that would be disastrous. Niamh's gift, will be a golden snake, which can also help her control her power and learn more about it. The snake will be about the length of your hand. And finally, your gift Sarah, will be an owl. It's wisdom will guide you through your visions and help you control them."
"Cool" I whispered. "When will we get them?"
"When you go back, Niamh will heal Jade, and they will appear then."
"Oh" I said, gobsmacked.
The Goddess laughed. "Goodbye Sarah. Be careful." She said, and then I felt a pulling sensation. I let it take me, and when I opened my eyes, I was lying on the floor, back in the present, with Jonas leaning over me shouting my name.
