(Niamh POV)I looked at Jade, but her head was turned south, looking at something. I followed her line of sight, and could just make out two shapes in the air, flapping towards us. As they drew closer, I saw that one bird was carrying something, it looked like a snake from here, or maybe a worm.
I gazed at them as they drew closer. I could now see that one bird was a Phoenix, one was an owl, and the Phoenix held a small golden snake in its talons. I remembered that the golden snake was mine, the Phoenix was Jade's and the owl was Sarah's. Suddenly something dropped into the palm of my hand. I looked down, and it was the small golden snake.
Staring at her, I tried to think of a good name for her. Hmmm, maybe Orenda. Yeah, Orenda. It suits her, because it means magic power.
You know I can hear your thoughts right? A sweet sounding voice said in my head.
What? Who are you?! I replied in my head.
Why, I am Orenda. Your snake. I must say, I like the name. Very suitable and pretty. Well done. Orenda said, I could almost imagine her nodding her little head in approval.
I am not little! Orenda said in a rage. I am simply petite!
Ok, ok I replied, and then shut off the mind link.
I looked down, and saw Orenda had curled herself around my wrist, like a bracelet, head touching the tip of her tail. I smiled, she was cute.
(Jade POV)
I watched my beautiful Phoenix drop Niamh's golden snake into the palm of her hand, and then watched as he soared towards me, landing with ease on my outstretched arm. I stared at him intently, trying to come up with a half decent name. Then it clicked. I would call him, Blaise. It meant firebrand, and he was a bird of fire, wasn't he?
Indeed I am. A voice said in my head.
Wait, who the hell are you?! I yelled back in my head, panicking.
Don't fret my dear, you will set yourself on fire. And I, am Blaise, your Phoenix, as you have named me. Blaise said, his voice soothing.
Oh. I replied, calming down considerably. How can you talk to me?
Why, I am a part of you now. I can mind link you, unless I shut you out or vice versa. Blaise said.
Ohhhhhh. I said back, and then shut off the link so I could think.
(Sarah POV)
My gorgeous owl swooped in towards me and landed on my shoulder. I looked around, surely this beautiful creature wasn't for me. I realised it was though, when I saw Jade unconsciously stroking the feathers of her Phoenix, and Niamh looked down at her small golden snake who was curled around her delicate wrist like a bracelet.
A soft peck snapped me out of my thoughts. I looked down onto my shoulder, and my owl had cocked her head to one side and was looking at me with a curious expression.
Are you going to name me? A voice said inside my head.
What the hell?! I replied back in my head, freaked out.
Oh hush child, it is me, your owl, now what is my name. These humans. She said, muttering the last bit.
Well, ummm, well your name is Minerva. I said back confidently.
Minerva? Hmmm, I like it. Goddess of wisdom it means, if I am right in saying so? Minerva asked.
I think. I replied, and then I shut off the link so I called think without interruptions from her.
