(Niamh POV)
I screamed. The pain running through my body was excruciating. It burned, especially where my veins were on my wrists, but it seemed to be centred around my heart. I screamed again, barely aware that I was clinging onto Shane so tightly my nails were digging into his skin. I thrash around wildly, trying to put out the raging fire inside of me.

Shane clutches me tighter to his chest, growling whenever Jade tries to come near me. His wolf has took over. But I don't know any of this. The pain is too intense for me to think about anything else.

Suddenly, a particularly painful scorch of pain runs up through my veins, and to my heart. Then it seems to travel upwards, to my head. A few short seconds later, and the pain starts in my head too. My body gives up, and I pass out, going limp in Shane's arms.

My eyes snap open, and I look around. The clearing is now dark, the moon high in the sky. I look around again. Something is different. Then I realise. My eyes, they are a hell of a lot better than they were. I can see, perfectly clearly, even though it's dark. Weird. Sitting up, I realise Shane is asleep next to me. I breathe in, and the most irresistible, exquisite scent hits my nose. I breathe it in, and I realise it is emitting from Shane.

Mine.

Someone growls in my head. Shaking my head in disbelief, I cuddle up to Shane, inhaling his woodsy scent. All of a sudden, Shane sits up, looking at me like he was dreaming.

"Niamh? Niamh, is that you?" He asks, rubbing his eyes like they are playing tricks on him.
"Of course it's me, stupid. Who else would it be?"
"But, but, you smell, you smell like wolf."
"WHAT?" I roar, standing up. "Are you implying that I SMELL!?"
"No, no, it's just us werewolves have a specific scent, and you seem to have it..." His voice trails off. "But that's not possible. You can't be wolf. It's not possible."
"I'm sorry, but it is possible. And she is now a werewolf." Sarah is coming towards us, a frown etched on her face.
"But she-she-she's human." Shane's voice is shaking.
"Was human." Sarah corrects him.
"B-but how?" He asks, obviously very confused.
"I figured it out. The Dark Goddess cast a spell on Ryder, knowing that once he told Jade what actually happened to him, Jade would get Niamh to heal him. So the spell was designed to turn Niamh into a werewolf, and to kill Ryder. The pain that Niamh felt was so excruciating because the spell had to alter her body and DNA in order for her to be a werewolf. The Dark Goddess decided to change her because most people don't survive the change. In fact, she had a 96% chance of dying from the pain." Sarah finished, and looked across to me to witness my reaction.
"So-so I'm a werewolf now?" I ask timidly, looking at my hands.
"I'm afraid so. You're stuck with amazing speed, super strength, and a longer lifespan, plus loads more cool things. Sucks, right?" Shane joked, laughing.
"Awesome!" I yell, jumping around. "I'm going to be badass!"

Shane laughs, along with Sarah. There was only one thing missing for me to be truly happy. Jade. I look around, trying to find her, and eventually detect her. She is lying, curled up on her side, next to Ryder. Small sobbing, almost choking noises are coming from that direction, and her breathing looks ragged like she is crying.
