(Jade POV)
Lying by Ryder's side, on the rather uncomfortable ground, I turned to look at him. My beloved. He looked so peaceful in his sleep, I just wanted to kiss him...
Suddenly my head started pounding, my eyesight became rather fuzzy and I felt dizzy. A few seconds later, and it had passed. Turning to look at Ryder again, I stood up and took a step back. It had hit me. My beloved was a vampire! I couldn't...couldn't have a vampire beloved. I am sworn to kill them, to kill them all.
Taking another step back, I tripped on a rock and fell, landing with a bump.
Ryder shot up, and looked around for me when he realised I wasn't at his side. Seeing me on the ground, he walked towards me. With every step he took, I shuffled away from him, almost fearful.
"Get away!" I yelled at him, a tear falling down my cheek.
"Jade, what's wrong?" He questioned, his face hard, brows furrowed and his mouth set Ina firm line. Then, quietly he whispered "Must've worn off already, damn it."
"What must've worn off?" I asked, still moving away from him. Then it clicked.
"You, you bewitched me?!" I yelled, my voice raising in pitch as I struggled to come to terms with the concept that my beloved would do this to me.
"No, I used my affinity on you. I can get into people's minds, and I needed you to accept me as your beloved." Ryder said coldly, his eyes blood red and hard, nothing like the warmth I thought I was seeing before.
"I never loved you Jade. Who would love a filthy half breed like you? I accepted you and made you accept me because you are destined for great things, you are destined to be a ruler of war. Of the war. I planned on staying with you, and if you got the throne, I would kill you, take away your pathetic existence, in order for me to then take your throne." He said my name with such spite, I flinched, unable to comprehend what he was saying to me.
"B-but" I started, but couldn't finish, lost completely for words.
Instead I got up, and with a hard, broken look evident only in my eyes, I shoved past him and went to wake my sisters. I could feel it happening. My heart was turning cold, I was getting rid of any unwanted emotions. My body was on autopilot, my mind and heart unable to take anymore. I was becoming something that I never had been before; I was finally pushed over the edge into becoming the cold hearted monster I was supposed to be-I was become The Huntress.
Moving towards Sarah, I leant down to wake her.
Suddenly my sensitive hearing picked up the sound of Ryder's approaching footsteps, moving quickly towards me. Spinning around, I took a protective stance in front of Sarah and let Ryder come to me.
Ryder jumped in the air at the same time I did, only I was filled with so much resentment towards him that I was on fire. Literally. Clashing into me, Ryder screamed as he was burnt, thrashing around as we fell to the ground. Landing on my feet, I looked across at Ryder, who now had burns across his face and arms, and parts of his top were scorched. I did not feel the least bit sorry for the lying bastard that called himself my beloved.
While I was smirking in victory, I felt something stabbing into my mind. Screaming, I fell to the floor as what felt like a hundred sharpened silver knives stabbed into my skull. Lifting my head through the unbearable pain, I saw Ryder smiling evilly down at me, a look of concentration etched on his once desirable face. Then I realised, It was him. He was causing this. Standing up with determination, I flung my body through the air, colliding with his with a force that sent us both to the ground.
The pain stopped. I had broken his concentration. Good. Standing up, Ryder attacked me with a combination of kicks and punches, all of which I blocked with ease. He had no technique or skill to his fighting, he simply relied on brute force. A rookie mistake. I could tell he relied on his power to take down his opponents.
Smiling, I delivered an uppercut to his jaw, followed by an elbow to his nose, a few jabs to the midsection and finally a spinning back kick which by the sounds of it broke his jaw, and sent him flying into the nearest tree. Stalking towards him, I bent down until I was on his level.
"Get out of here, now, before I have to kill you." I whispered, my voice cold and deadly.
Nodding in obvious fear, Ryder turned and ran full speed out of the clearing.
