{Riley's P. O. V}
The next morning I woke up to the most excruciating pain that shot through my skull and hurt every time a sat up. I groaned as I turned over in bed and looked to my left to find a glass of water and a tiny white pill on the nightstand beside me. I grabbed the pill and water and sat up to down them. I set the glass back down and laid my head on the soft pillow behind me, I didn't really want to get up today and I didn't have the energy to do anything.
I shut my eyes and took a few deep breaths of air. Reopening my eyes I noticed two doors leading to a balcony. Deciding that I needed some fresh air, I got up, ignoring the pain in my head, and headed towards the door pulling it open. The sun instantly hit me and I covered my eyes from the brightness. After a few seconds, my eyes finally adjusted and I smiled at the view before me. Sitting down on one of the chairs, I let the sun hit my skin while staring off into the most breathtaking backyard I had ever seen. There was a beautiful clear blue pool, gorgeous landscape and greenery all around it, a trampoline off to the side on the grass and of all the beauty was a canopy, lights wrapped around it, with couches and chairs set neatly around a beautiful wooden table. Overall it was stunning. Closing my eyes, I decided to just spend a few minutes in the sun and breathing in the fresh air.
"Hey there sleepy head." I jolted upwards and then quickly groaned at the pain throbbing in my head. I heard him chuckle as he placed another glass of water on the table beside me and sat down on the other chair across from me. "How are you feeling?" River asked me as I closed my eyes again.
"I feel like a zombie who just woke up from a 100 year nap." I moaned. He let out a small laugh and sighed. "Well birdy, that's what happens when you drink alcohol." I opened my eyes and glared over at him, "Oh shut up."
He smirked, "So little birdy can actually talked like a normal human being and can be a smart ass too."
I rolled my eyes at him. "Well it's not my fault you're a scary beast who eats children for breakfast." I blurted out but quickly shut my mouth as my eyes widen at what I just said straight to his face.
"You think I eat children?" He frowned. "Uhh...no? Where did you get that silly idea from? Ha that's crazy! You're insane, I mean your perfectly sane, haha. I didn't say anything." I say smiling somewhat awkwardly and dumbly. He shook his head and just stared out into the backyard. I looked down at my hands. 'Way to go Riley.' I sighed, I really needed to learn to shut my mouth sometimes.
"I don't actually eat children." I look up at him as a smile formed on his lips. "I actually drink them." My smile faltered. That's when he burst into laughter. "You should've seen your face, priceless." I gave him a forced smile and rolled my eyes at his statement.
After he calmed down, we sat there in silence for a couple of minutes.
"Well, I should get going." I say standing up and dusting imagery dirt off my pants. I noticed the frown that made its way onto his face again but was quickly replaced with a serious look.I smiled down at him, "Thanks again for... you know for saving me" I say laughing a bit nervously and scratching my arm in anxiousness. He nods his head and stands up, very closely to me I might add. He looks down at me and smirks, "My pleasure birdy," he says stepping a bit closer to me if it was even possible.
"Um.." I say looking down at my feet.
"B-bye." I stuttered out before side stepping passed River. As I stepped foot back into the bedroom, I heard him sigh behind me. I didn't turn back around, I just grabbed my dress that was laying on the floor and my heels.
As I reached for the door to walk out, a hand flew in front of my face and shut the door. I jumped back in surprised by the loud thud into something hard.
Spinning around I came face to face with River again. "Um... w-what are you d-doing?" I stutter out again. He smirked down at me and stepped closer, which resulted in me backing up against the door...again. I notice him looking down at my lips and a contemplating look on his face. I was in such a trans that I didn't realize how close he had gotten, until our lips were only inches apart.
"Stand!" I blurted our all of a sudden. River stopped and backed his head away a few inches.
"Huh?" He said slightly confused."I, uh, can stand on one foot while I rub my tummy and tap my head, uhm yea!" I ramble. "Wanna see?"
"You are unbelievable, you know that birdy?" He smirks while shaking his head.
"Um.. thanks?" I questioned."You're watching Scarlett today. My mom left for work already and she told me to let you know." He says changing the topic. I shook my head and sigh.
"Oh okay." I moved passed him and set my dress and heels on the bed."Come downstairs. Breakfasts is ready." Was his last words before exiting the room.
-
"Where's Scarlett?" I glare over at River with my arms crossed. He was in the kitchen scrolling through his phone and eating the bacon that Lucy had cooked us for breakfast.
"What do you mean?" He says playing innocent as he took another bite of his bacon.
"I mean, that when I went up to check on Scarlett. She was not tucked away in her bed. So where is she?"
"Oh I totally forgot. You see Scarlett and my mom actually went out today for mommy and daughter bonding shit or whatever." He said laughing as if it was the funniest thing ever. My glare only became harsher.
"You know what? I'm not wasting my breath on you." With that being said I turned on my heels and stormed towards the door.
"Where are you going?!?""Home!"
"You don't have your car!"
"I'll walk!" I yell as I threw on my shoes all the while grumbling under my breath.
"Stupid ass." I turn around and opened the door only to have my arm yanked back into the house and turned around to be once again pushed up against the door.
"You have to stop doing that!" I groaned as I rubbed my head. I opened my eyes to see a goofy smile playing on his lips. I only shake my head at him. "What do you want from me. I just want to go home and sleep away this hangover." I complained to him.
"Lets have a movie day!" He says
"Huh?" I asked looking up at him.
"Come on please. Let's just chill here today and watch movies!"
"Well it seems like I don't have a choice anyways. So fine." I groaned. He smiled down at me and turned around to start walking over to the movie room. I was still confused as to why he wanted me, of all people, to spend the day with him. Does this mean he considers me a friend? Pushing that thought to the back of my mind I contemplated again if I should just book it out of the house. Before I could even think of doing just that, his voice floated towards me.
"Don't even think about it Birdy." Groaning I slumped my shoulders and followed him towards the movie room.
