tyler, stop. you can't do this, patrick pleaded.

then what will i do? i need to finish this task somehow! tyler shot back, biting his upper lip.

you'll... he'll think he's going insane! the ghost of someone behind him at all times? that's mind mending crazy.

i've already caused enough harm around people around him and me. and he's my project, i gotta be with him!

dude.  he's giving my ex a blowjob in a tour bus right now. that will give both of us mental harm, and we aren't even alive. patrick contradicted.

tyler widened his eyes, remembering people equally as important as his new love interest. oh god. i've been so focused on josh, my parents and siblings! jenna! they've known me as long, even longer than i've known josh! jenna was such a good friend and girlfriend. i've known her since we were born. she's probably drowning in her own tears. my siblings have nobody to bring them to school, blame on when they do something stupid, annoy relentlessly until they talk. parents... they've lost a son. a son that may have been screwed up, that may have tried to suffocate his arm with rubber hands cutting off blood circulation, but still a son. i've caused enough harm to ruin them forever. and josh isn't an exception. he's trying to hide his pain.

tyler, shut the hell up.

no, you do. tyler tried to make a cool sounding comeback, but failed miserably.

he'll end up in a mental hospital. patrick was starting to get a little scared of his new friend, who would do anything to make sure that he gets his happy ending. even if people he loves doesn't.

not my problem.

yes it is!

tyler shrugged, and wiped away small dew drops forming in his eyes. he looked at patrick and shook his head. before he could argue, tyler was already somewhere else.

their fight lasted a while, so josh and pete were outside, playing basketball with joe and spencer. they were both extremely short, though, so they were clearly losing.

tyler ignored patrick in his ears, telling him this plan would be a failure; he just waited for the game to finish and josh be alone.

a few minutes later, he found the perfect moment. he was alone in the room filled with instruments, fiddling with some spare drumsticks.

tyler went over, and after deciding the best way to do this, he went over to josh, and blew on his neck. he looked behind his, expecting to find his new boyfriend.

after finding nobody, he blamed it on his imagination, until he felt a familiar touch graze his collarbone.

"what? tyler?" he called hopelessly in the small room, until he felt something grasp his hand. he looked down.

it was nothing.

then, the feeling left, and the door opened, then swiftly closed again, with paint being held in thin air. he didn't even know where 'tyler' would have gotten the paint. but, then, the paint can lifted up, and dumped. a silhouette appeared as a sculpture of yellow paint. the silhouette looking like the late tyler joseph, but with large wings shooting from his back. josh's eyes widened in amazement. he wanted to scream, if it weren't for the touches before, he would have been sure that this was fake.

"tyler?" josh asked, knowing fully who is was, but the figure nodded, and stuck his finger in some leftover paint. he wrote MUTE on the wall.

josh looked bewildered. "is that an excuse to not tell me why you left?"

tyler shook his head. he constantly brushed his hand over the paint again to make the message no. you deserve the truth. but i don't think you should know now.

"then when WILL i know?"

do you think i've been a good person all my life, josh?

"yes, of course! you always put yourself over others! you're so selfless, i've always been idolizing you."

i wasn't selfless august 22nd. i was so selfish. i let everyone who i loved, who loved me, behind.

"you couldn't have known that there would have been a lumberjack! you stopped for a break, i heard!"

tyler put his yellow hands behind his back, and lowered his head.
"oh. OH. OH NO." josh came to a realization.

people who stop for breaks don't end up in hell, josh. or purgatory. i'm so close to heaven. but you're the only way i could get up there. i know what i have to do. i heard your truth or dare confession.

josh stared, blushing at the ground, not noticing that the painted angel had wiped the paint from his lips. until yellow smeared his hair, and his lips were occupied by a transparent feeling.
he wrapped his arms around the still-wet paint, and kissed tyler back.
