AN: Hey guys! Thanks so much for dropping by to read this :) if you could vote and comment, or leave me messages in my inbox with input or support or a suggestion, that would be incredible <333 love you guys :))
About an hour and a half later, I found myself at my desk in my own bedroom, still typing my fingers raw attempting to find SOMETHING about that comment.
The channel itself belonged to Disney on Broadway, who the hell knows who ran that account? Or had access to it.
I groaned and put my head in my hands, just about to give up the search, when Katie came barrelling into my room.
"BROOKLYN YOU GOTTA SEE THIS!" She shrieked breathlessly.
Needless to say, I was so startled that I fell out of my chair.
I glared at my sister as I stood up, grabbing the phone out of her hands to see for myself why I was scared shitless.
My jaw hit the floor faster than you could say Newsies- it was an email, to my sister, inquiring about my email.
FROM ELISABETH LEUSTIG HERSELF- THE CASTING DIRECTOR FROM NEWSIES.
THAT TIME, I ACTUALLY DID ALMOST PISS MYSELF.
"HOW THE HELL DID SHE GET YOUR EMAIL??? AND HOW DOES SHE KNOW WHO I AM??? AND WHY DOES SHE WANT MY EMAIL AND PHONE NUMBER FOR FURTHER CORRESPONDING????" I was actually yelling, like, right in my sister's face.
She just rolled her eyes and gave me a look.
"The youtube video, smartass!" She replied with a small smile accompanied by an eyeroll- a trademark of my sister.
I facepalmed.
Of course it was the youtube video! But why was the woman who casted the most talented people for Newsies have interest in me? I pondered to myself.
WHO THE FUCK CARES? YOU'VE BEEN CHOSEN BY THE CASTING DIRECTOR FOR SOMETHING FOR SOME REASON! FOCUS ON THAT!
I smiled to myself, and grabbed my sister's phone from her hand again.
I screenshotted the email and sent it to myself, hardly able to contain my excitement.
"AHA!" Katie exclaimed, jumping up off my bed.
"What?" I inquired, raising an eyebrow.
"I figured out how that woman got my email address! You can find them on other Youtube channels!"
"You, the tech GENIUS, just figured that out?" I asked dryly.
"Go to hell." She replied, walking out and shutting the door behind her.
I just smiled to myself and looked at the screenshot again, looking over the message.
Hi! My name is Elisabeth Leustig and I am the casting director for the Broadway musical Newsies! If you could give me the information of the young woman singing and tapping in this video, it would be much appreciated!
All the best,
Elisabeth.
I almost screamed.
I immediately jumped on my laptop and opened up my gmail, typing faster than I ever had before.
Hello! My name is Brooklyn Booker, the one you emailed my younger sister about-the girl in the video was me. My cell phone is xxx-xxx-xxxxx and my email is .
Thanks,
Brooklyn Booker
Here I was, 21 and a recent graduate of NYU's theater program, back in my deadbeat town in Pennsylvania.
Getting contacted about one of my favorite shows on the planet.
My dream role.
This could not be happening.

"We'll all be out there, carryin' the banner man to man!" I sang out, hammering the notes as I went.
"We're always out there, soakin' every sucker that we can!" I grinned as my fingers easily found the notes, having learned every Newsies song I possibly could.
My phone vibrated loudly on the piano but I ignored it, finding myself immersed in the music.
I had long since stopped playing Newsies, and found myself playing something totally new; something I had never heard before.
I hummed along, unsure of where this was all going.
Was I writing my own music?
Was I seriously on some magic streak, or dreaming?
I stopped mid note and rubbed my eyes.
I was gonna need a hella lot of coffee if I was going to keep this going.
As the sweet aroma of coffee filled my small kitchen, I checked my phone, itching to know if the vibration was Elisabeth.
Sure enough, my wish had come true.
She emailed me back.
Good afternoon Brooklyn,
I hope I am finding you well. I will be calling you sometime this afternoon to discuss some interviewing and possible auditioning, if you are interested. If you are wondering why I am getting in contact with you, here is the link to an article I think you will find quite interesting.

Talk to you this afternoon!

I narrowed my eyes as I clicked the article; Kara Lindsay was leaving the show... That means they were in pursuit of a new Katherine... WERE THEY CONSIDERING ME FOR KATHERINE????
I dropped my coffee mug in shock, a loud shattering sound rattling the entire house.
My sister came sprinting downstairs first, followed by my mom and dad.
"Brook! Are you okay???!" They asked looking from me, to the mug.
"I'M BEING CONSIDERED FOR THE ROLE OF KATHERINE IN NEWSIES!!!" I screeched in return.
My mom ran a hand through her hair and my dad rubbed his temples. My sister rolled her eyes and went back downstairs, leaving me to our parents.
"Well, isn't that exciting?!" I asked, barely keeping myself from screaming again.
"Yeah hon, that's really great!" My mom replied, her smile not quite reaching her eyes.
I narrowed mine. "Why are you not very excited?" I asked skeptically.
"It's nothing against YOU...." My dad trailed off.
I crossed my arms over my chest. "What do you mean?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.
"What your father means, sweetheart, is that we just... We aren't sure this is a good idea." My mother replied, clearly not ready to have this conversation.
My heart dropped into my stomach and tears welled up in my eyes.
"WHAT do you mean??" I asked, barely containing my anger.
"The broadway community is very cutthroat. We aren't sure you're ready for that kind of competition." He replied, glaring at my mother for bringing this up.
It took everything I had not to go upstairs, pack everything, and buy myself a train ticket.
"But... This is all i've ever dreamed of!"
My parents shared a look.
Just as my dad opened his mouth to speak again, but my ringing phone cut him off.
I glared at them and ran up to my room to answer.
