Chapter 5- Josie's POV

I was reading a book to my siblings when I got a text from Hannah. I took my phone out of my pocket and read the text quickly: "Hey Josie, Collins texted me and invited both of us to Chili's at 6 tomorrow! You available?" I was so excited that I texted as quickly as possible while ignoring my complaining siblings. "Of course I'm available!" I responded. She texted back and said, "Great! See you there!" I beamed and my siblings continued to complain. "Josie what happened to the 3 pigs?" Kaylee asked. "Well that's a cliffhanger for tomorrow night, goodnight!" I said to both of them. I ran out and felt a bit guilty. I ran into my room and shut the door quickly. I looked at the text one more time and beamed. I opened my closet doors and looked for the cutest outfit I could find. I found a cute crop top and flowy skirt along with some nice sandals. I just couldn't wait. I fell quickly asleep with a bunch of clothes piled on top of me. But I didn't sleep soundly, I had terrible nightmares. I dreamt that everyone got in a fight and we all left, never seeing each other again. I woke up sweating and panting, I looked over at my alarm clock and it read three in the morning. I rubbed my eyes and rolled out of my bed only to land on a pile of shorts. I sighed and started to pick up the stuff and shove it into my closet. My phone vibrated with notifications from all my social medias. I picked it up and gasped. Devan liked so many of my photos. Hannah and I took a selfie at the pool and he liked that, along with a bunch others. Since I am a creep I started to scroll through his Insta and like a bunch of his photos. Time started to pass and I engaged my time throughout the day, the only problem: Getting past mom.

Maybe it wasn't such a problem, once mom told us the deal at breakfast. "Ok guys so I'm going to work late tonight starting at five. Jasmine the babysitter is coming to babysit you two." Mom pointed at Kaylee and Justin when she was saying that. "And for you Josie you could hang out at Hannah's or something. I know you wouldn't wanna be stuck with them," Mom said. I laughed a bit, but the twins sneered at me. Yes I got a break! I thought to myself. After that I decided to take up all the time I could, reading, pondering about life, and what-not. Soon the time came. Mom left and Jasmine came. I told Jasmine that I would go to Hannah's and drive myself there. But that was a lie of course I was actually gonna drive myself to Chili's, but first I had to get ready. I went upstairs to my bathroom and applied some makeup, did my hair, and tried not to be as nervous as I was. I then changed grabbed a purse and ran out the door not wasting a minute.

I arrived at Chili's and it was kinda jam packed. I parked my Honda Civic near the restaurant, I peered inside and saw two familiar faces. Collins and Devan were already there and sitting at a booth. I freaked out. Ok, pull yourself together Josie! I thought to myself. I shut the door to my car and locked it, quickly walking into the restaurant. The lady at the desk said to me, "Hi welcome to Chili's! How can I help you, hon?" She asked. I cringed at her cheesy-ness. "Um, well my party is over there," I said, while gesturing towards Devan's table. Devan looked over at me and waved. The lady looked at me suspiciously and she said in her scratchy voice, "Ok hon, you go enjoy yourself now!" I nodded and quickly walked away from the creepy lady. As I approached the table I gave Devan a look that said "Oh my gosh that lady!" He busts up laughing. Collins gives him the weird look and Devan just keeps laughing. I sat down awkwardly next to Devan and he said, "Hey!" I said, "Hey! How you been?" He was about to respond when Hannah walks in. "Finally!" Collins says, unaware that anyone heard him. He quickly shut his mouth as Hannah approached our table.
