I flop on the couch as Waffles struggles to hop up with me. I pull her up onto the couch as she settles on a pillow to sleep. After I while I realize what I should be doing. "I should be packing!" I think to myself.

I run upstairs and suddenly get a text from Hannah. "Did you hear about the cruise Devan's going on?" She text me. "How would I not know? I'm his girlfriend. Even better, he invited me to go with him!" I say with trying my best not to boast. She text back: "No way!!!!! I hope you have loads of fun. Don't forget to take pics so I can see!!" I was glad Hannah was being supportive of Devan and I. I suddenly remember she text me first so I figured she had something to tell me. "Did you have something to tell me?" I ask. "Oh! I almost forgot! I'm staying with Collins at his house for the two weeks you're there!" She replies. "Omg, hope you have fun there too!" I say, thinking about how Collins might feel about being left behind so his family could go on a cruise.

I throw my phone on my bed and begin packing. I tossed my favorite clothes in there and some other random things. I was so excited I couldn't even think.

I tossed a couple more shirts in there when my door flies open. My siblings barge in yelling about dinner or what-not. I try to stand in the way of my suitcase so they wouldn't realize that I'm packing for something. "Hey sis!" Justin says looking around my cluttered room. Kaylee brushes past me and looks at my suitcase. "Hey, what's this Josie?" She asked grabbing one of my bras and holding it up in the air so everyone could see, tossing it on Justin's head. I snatch it up quickly feeling embarrassed and exposed. Justin looked at me confused as I tossed the bra back in my suitcase.

"What are you even packing for?" Kaylee asks, picking up my clothes out of the suitcase. I pushed her away and closed the suitcase, suddenly remembering that nobody knew about the cruise except for Hannah. "Um, well, I'm kinda going on a cruise with Devan." I say quickly. Kaylee smiled evilly and said, "Oh your boyfriend." She said, with a careful hint in her voice with the word boyfriend. "We're telling mom!" Justin announced. "No! I haven't told her yet!" I say, but they're already gone as my voice fades.

"Josephine Francesca Crawford!" Mom yells as she storms up the stairs. "Oh no, I'm going to get it." I thought to myself as mom comes through the doorway. "You're going on a cruise with Devan?" Mom practically screams. The word Devan was said with much disdain. "I was going to tell you!" I say, weakly. Kaylee snorts behind mom and I glare at her. "I didn't know you were leaving tomorrow!" She says and I look at her with confusion. "I'm not leaving tomorrow..." I start but she interrupts me. "Even if you're not leaving tomorrow I'm not letting you go." She said commandingly. "Mom!" I whine. She shushes me and says, "You're not going, no way, no how, and no buts!" I groan as my family leaves my room.

I was about to text Devan an apology about not being able to go, but then I get an evil thought. "I don't need Mom's permission to go on a cruise with my boyfriend! Heck, I'm old enough to move out!" I thought. I continued packing anyways, then stored it in my closet where my Mom couldn't find it.

The next day I was on a date with Devan at Flemings and thought to myself that this was gonna be our last date before the cruise. We were talking about regular things and Devan was talking about his old friend that wanted to meet me after the cruise.

Soon our attention was diverted elsewhere to a girl walking through the door. The girl walked by our booth and smiled at Devan. "OMG! Is that you, Devan?" The girl says. I assumed it was just a fan girl admiring Devan as a YouTube sensation, but I was wrong. "Hello, Angelica, whatcha up to? Cheating on another guy?" Devan says with a bit of scorn. I almost gasp out loud when I realize it was Devan's ex, but instead give her a rude look. It looked like she was going to yell at him, but instead rolls her eyes and says, "You don't have to be so harsh, Devy. We're all good now. Any ways, who's this cheap skate?" I glare at her. "Actually I happen to be his girlfriend, you happen to be something insignificant to Devan's life. Is that right?" I ask, with a hint of sass. "Yes. Josie, this is my unfortunate ex. Josie and I happen to be going on a cruise this coming week." Devan says, grabbing hold of my hand. She makes an exaggerated scoff and says: "You never took me on a cruise." Devan doesn't seem to have much expression. "Probably because you didn't deserve one. Plus, I wasn't that into you anyways. Don't you have somewhere to be? Josie and I are kinda busy here." Devan says. Angelica looks behind her. "Actually, yeah I do. I see you're busy so I'll be on my way then. Good luck to you both." Angelica says, as if she was using her wish on a star that our relationship wouldn't last.
