Chapter 12: Josie's POV

When I got the text from Devan that said that Collins got into a wreck. I sped right over to busy intersection. I thought I was about to get myself into a wreck. I was standing there seeing them put Collins into the ambulance, and I thought I was going to get emotional. Hannah walked up behind me and also watched the ambulance speed away. We got into my car and Hannah revealed that she is dating Collins.

To be honest I am not surprised, I knew that Collins had feelings for her, Hannah didn't realize that she did as fast as he did. We arrived at the hospital and the doctors only allowed Devan inside. Hannah hugged me and cried, as I tried not to imagine if this same thing would happen to Devan. Soon Devan came out and Hannah went in to spend some alone time with Collins.

"Hey," I said as Devan sat next to me in the waiting room.

"Hey," he said back faintly smiling.

I laid my head on his shoulder and asked, "Is he gonna be ok?" I was genuinely worried for him.

"He'll be fine. Don't worry." He kissed me lightly on the forehead. I smiled and dozed off to sleep on his shoulder.

I was suddenly shook awake by Devan by what I think was an hour later. "Hey, hey, Josie. Wake up!" He said softly, trying not to annoy the other people in the waiting room. I woke up and rubbed my eyes.

"What's up?" I ask as I get up.

"Your mom has to be worried about you. You know that." He said.

"I know." I say taking my phone out of my pocket. I had a lot of notifications from my Instagram and one text from mom. It read: "Honey come home right away. Someone's here to see you!" I groaned and Devan looked over my shoulder to see the trouble. "Oh geez, I hope it's not that Clifton guy." Devan said.

"We'll see. Wait where's Hannah?" I asked, suddenly realizing that Hannah was not in the waiting room with us.

"She left, because her mom was very worried about her. And I think yours is too, so let's go." Devan said, is leading me out the hospital. I took one last look at Collins and then we drove away from the hospital.

We got to my house and I saw a familiar car, but I could not remember where I saw it from. I opened the door to my house with Devan close behind me. I immediately cringed when I knew who it was. Clifton. He looked different though, his arm was in a sling and he had multiple bruises. "Honey! Where were you?" Mom asked, as Clifton waved at me.

I ignored him and said, "His brother," I pointed at Devan behind me and went on, "Got into a car accident."

It almost looked like Clifton's face lit up and he said, "That's very ironic cause I just got into a car accident also." He tried to put his arm around me, but I just slapped him away.

"Really? Where did it happen if you don't mind me asking?," Devan said, almost like he was interested.

"Well it was in the intersection of Alameda Street." Clifton said smoothly trying to become Devan's acquaintance or something, but it wasn't going to happen now. Noticing that my mom was in the kitchen, Devan once again lifted Clifton by the collar of his shirt.

"What do you really have against me? First assuming that Josie was "your girl" and now trying to hurt my brother!" Devan said, angrily.

"Listen buddy, I didn't mean to hurt your brother, and Josie was mine in the first place," Clifton said, trying to fight back with lame excuses.

This time I butted in, "Ok, we were done a long time ago, so you better shut your mouth!" I became very defensive.

He smiled kinda evilly and said, "Well there's nothing you can do about it, your mom has already set up our marriage. So you're just going to have to live with it, literally." Devan glared at him and put him down before mom came in. "Cookies, anyone?"
