Did he just say what I think he just said?
"You want me to do what?"
Bone rubbed his hand over his face again, I could tell he was getting aggravated. "Look, I know you and Kai been friends since the sandbox, but I can tell you don't really love him. The only reason you're with him is because he's the father of your child." He stepped up and grabbed my hand.
"You, me, and Kaila can be a happy family."
His eyes held so much hope, reminding me of a child asking their parents for primission to do something. He was basically begging me to do this with him.
I put my free hand on top of his.
"You're right, Bone. I'll help you."
Bone screwed his face up in shock, confused, and surprised in one emotion. I know he wasn't expecting me to agree with him.
"Let's meet up Thursday at--"
His sentence was cut short to Kai's loud banging on the door, making me and him jump in surprise. I looked over at the dresser. He left his key to the door.
"Diamond! Why the fuck you got the door locked!" He banged on the door again.
Shit, if Kai see's Bone in here with me with the door lock, he'll expect something. Hell, what man wouldn't?
"Fuck!" Bone hissed.
So I did what had to be done. I got up, unlocked the door, pushed Bone out and pulled Kai in. What--did you think I was gon' tell Bone to jump in the closet? Nah, I have no time for that.
"What the fuck you and Bone doing in here with the goddamn door locked Diamond? Huh!" he screamed in my face for the second time tonight.
I locked the door behind my back with my back to the door and exhaled.
His eyes was bloodshot red and his breath reaked of alchol.
Calmly, I told him, "Baby, it was Bone all along."
