Chapter One -- A New Day
Waking up to the bright summer sun shinning in my face made me smile, just from the warm ray I could tell it was going to be a beautiful day.
I rolled over to my side, and looked at the man I'm so deeply in love with. He look so peaceful while asleep, his broad chest rising then falling again and again as he breathed through his nose. I placed my hand on top of his chest, watching it do the exact same thing. I happily sighed.
"Good morning, baby," he mumbled suddenly, his eyes still closed shut.
"Morning," I whispered as if he wasn't already woke. I sat up on my knees in our messy bed, and kissed his closed lips.
"Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" a hyper little girl's voice boomed out in our condo. Just seconds later my daughter came running into the bedroom with a cheesy grin.
"Shh, Kaila, Daddy's sleeping," I told her softly. Kai, her father next to me still had his eyes closed. I'm sure he was trying to ease back to sleep, but with Kaila's yelling that was impossible.
I took her small body in my arms from my side of the bed.
When she found a comfortable position she turned to Kai,"Sorwee, Daddy," she apolgized.
I smiled. What did I do to deserve such a perfect six year old?
Kai's face smiled lazily. "It's okay, baby girl." He then sat up and put his arms around me. I leaned my body in so I could sit even closer to him. There's no better feeling than being in his arms.
"Daddy?" Our daughter questioned while moving from me to Kai's other arm. Just by the sound of her voice we knew she wanted something. Which isn't new. She wants something different every day, and it's all toys.
"What is, Kaila?" Kai wanted to know.
"May I have 'da neeew Malibu Barbie Playhouse?" Her eyes held the puppy dog stare that she knew only worked on him as her small hands came together under her chin.
"Uhh..."
Kai turned around looking at me for help. Why can't he just tell her little spoiled butt 'No' is beyond me.
"Pwease, Daddy!" she screamed before I had a chance to say anything.
I laughed, playfully rolling my eyes at my daughter. She's such a Daddy's girl.
"Anything for my Kaila," he gushed, not being able to handle her "pressure." He laughed and pinched her button nose.
She jumped up screaming before running out of our room with her laughter trailing behind her.
I shook my head as I got up to follow her before I pushed Kai's muscled arm.
"Anything for my Kaila," I mocked him jokenly.
He laughed, "You're just mad she's not a 'Mommy's Girl'."
