Chapter 20

I was in defeat and denial. I couldn't even so much as turn an inch to face him. It was nerve racking and out right awkward, and difficult to breathe beside him. I tapped into the rhythm of some horrible pop song while I continued to stay stiff beside him in the airplane seat. He tapped me and I didn’t bother to turn to look at him but I gave a small ‘hmm?’

            “We’re here.”

I nodded, unbuckled my seatbelt and got up on my feet. Te entire ride had been avoidng eye conatct with him while he told me what was going on. I was part of what my family, Damon’s, his and Sam’s did together to make a world a so called better place by using less harsher methods of assassinating someone but also not fallowing the law exactly either. Their little group, stepped on the toes my grandfather that ruled some top secret organization that did assassinations. They were like the people every conspiracy person would come up with. My grandfather wanted our families to fight between each other, to kill each other off until he had no more competition.  No one standing in his way.

Noah was told my grandfather to be a triple spy and to work for both of our families, my family and Damon’s. He got close to Daphne, or more like she got close to him and it continued from that point. Daphne married Lucian for the sake of a peace treaty, and then that’s when my grandfather raided an attack on Lucian’s family and began to plot to turn the two families to turn against each other.  Noah now, currently dropped his position with my grandfather, but that also meant that they would get others to set to kill him before he opened his mouth. Sadly for them, we were already safely landing.

We walked to down the airplane isle and reached for the exit, where stairs were pulled out for us. Noah stood behind me and soon as I poked my head out, I saw a face, but not a familiar face. Noah grabbed my shirt roughly from behind and tossed me back as we both hear the whistle of the bullet cutting through the air. He rushed me down the plane and tossed me down behind a seat. I fell down on my ass and was about to stand up but saw  him pull out a gun and shoot efficiently at the people coming into the plane.

Every shot he made caused me to flinch.

“Get up,” Noah ordered. I did.

“Now follow and stay behind me.”

It shouldn’t have bothered me so much but it did. The fact that I couldn’t be of any use to him right now, and that I was merely a burden. I understood that I just couldn’t help but I wish I didn’t need his protection right now, because it scared me to see him shot. I followed his slow steps down the exit of the plane and he came into a halt. Neither of us poked out to the door to see what was outside.

“Let’s talk,” A man called out from outside. Noah scoffed, shaking his head as if the man outside was able to see, “We’re past that. The Hunter’s will be arriving soon.”

“They are hardly a threat,” The man said.

Who the hell was that? I tugged on Noah’s shirt to get his attention, but his attention only flickered me for a split second before he ignored me. They were talking about Damon’s family, Damon. My hands were trembling at the thought they would be coming. I picked out the phone in Noah’s pocket and he shot his hand up to grab my wrist to stop me. He gave me a questioning look.

“I need to call them. Tell them not to come here,” I whispered.

            “That will leave us dead.”
