Chapter 8
~Javier~
The never-ending downfall of rain pattered against the metal stairs of the fire escape, it sounded like I and Julie were gathering every pot we could find to stop the rain from flooding our small shack that we were confined to live in. Every drop of rain that touched the glass of the glass balcony door caused the whole view to blur the outside of the apartment.
"Look," Julie ran forward to the window, her warm big brown eyes following the water falling to end of the window, "We're looking through the world with blind eyes." I watched the memory of her in the corner of my eyes. The way she spoke, always had me lost in where her thoughts would come from. They were so random.
"We can't expect to see the world in front of us with tears in our eyes. So, there's still a chance that the world isn't completely hopeless, because we still haven't seen what it's like when we're not in tears," She would explain with a small smile cracking the edge of her thin lips. She got all of that from looking outside a blurry window. For a moment, I believed her but it really never would stop raining, not until we stop thirsting for it.
I kept my eyes on the window and was about to turn myself around until she interrupted.
"Don't let her make the same mistake," Julie dryly spoke, turning her head to meet my eyes. Drips of blood fell from her forehead, trailing down her cheeks until her face was covered more in blood. My eyes trailed away from her and onto the door of the bedroom. It wasn't my place to be interfering. As if my instinct, the door creeps open to reveal a girl with her eyes half opened and her brown bed head hair. She let a loud yawn out and stretched her arms to the limit she could, and greeted me with a joke "Morning. What's for breakfast, fingers?"
"I'm an assassin not a cannibal," I smirked.
"A cannibal would argue that you waste kills," She joked some more and stepped into the kitchen and as she was about to grab for the handle of the fridge, she hesitated and tossed back around to look at me and open the mouths of her to question.
"-I didn't hide anybody's pieces there Lexis," I assured before her question in her thoughts escaped her lips. She slowly nodded and opened the fridge and pulled out milk and set it down at the counter. She then went into my counters and managed to find the cookies and used the cookies to dip them into the milk.
"Do you tempt people to come in here with cookies?" She raised an eyebrow.
"No," I shrugged and moved at a leisurely pace toward the counter.
"You should," She shrugged, "You could also tempt them with cookies to do no wrong or put them in jail instead of killing them." If only things were that simple but I had clients to please. I pulled up a stool and sat down and leaned into her.
"Are you truly that oblivious?" I doubly blinked "Could I tempt you with cookies to put that hit off to find your parents kidnappers or possible killers?" She rested the chocolate chip cookie down and narrowed her hazel eyes at me.
"You're not getting it are you? Are you that stupid?" She snickered and consumed the cookie, her cheeks growing full as chipmunks. I couldn't help but laugh quietly seeing her cheeks puffed out.
