Chapter 3
I knocked on the assassin’s front door and waited for a response. There was some shifting and moving around the room but barely noticeable. Anyone else might not have picked it up but I listened very carefully.
“It’s Lexis,” I identified. There was a long pause before I retrieved a reply. It made me wonder exactly what was he doing in the room or did I get the wrong room? I won’t be surprised if I did.
“It’s not a good time Lexis,” He unsurely said. I should leave then should I? I turned around and was about to walk down the hallway. Was he in there with someone? Last time I checked, he had no time to have a girlfriend and it would be frankly stupid to get a girlfriend if you were an assassin. I bet even if he did, Demon wouldn’t throw off the bet. He’d just make me make him cheat unless his girlfriend was an assassin...
The door creaked open behind me. I turned around and faced it and then open the door fully to face Javier, fully dressed and looking as if he had just came from something or was leaving. He was wearing black leather. Damn, he’s hot. He narrowed his eyes, and raised one eyebrow at me “How did you find my new location?” Busted...
“I–um–well...” I dragged on and hoped that he wouldn’t let me continue. He kept on giving me this hard glare that told me that he could have the patience in the world but would rather torture me out of it.
“I stalked you three days ago...” I whispered and felt my cheeks burn of embarrassment. I stared down at my feet not knowing what kind of response he would give me. Would he get really mad and start yelling or is he going to give me the deadly silent treatment?
“How?” He asked.
“By car,” I admitted.
“Why?” He questioned. Because I thought it would be fun to stalk a hot assassin. It’s not like I can say that. I carefully watch my words around a killer.
“I don’t know... I felt like it?” I mumbled.
“You felt like it...?” He scoffed “That’s the excuse you’re going to use?”
“I did feel like it,”
“Do you feel like I’m not trying hard enough to find your parent’s killers or kidnappers?”
“No, you’re doing good...”
“Then why,”
“Stop integrating me!” I exclaimed, becoming utterly flustered. Javier chuckled above me and I felt myself more red and embarrassed. He grabbed my wrist, dragged me into the room and closed the door behind me. He faced me head on and I tried to look up at him without looking like I felt ashamed.
“You’re cute,” He smirked as it faded into a sharp cold stare “But if you follow me again I won’t forgive you like I will this time.” He’s definitely hot and cold. I bit my bottom lip and then turned into a serious expression quickly.
“Or what...?” I dared to speak the words. His smirk came back with even more curiosity on his face, almost like he was saying ‘Is she really challenging me?’
