Enlightenment Seven: Ignorance

No matter how much you learn,

You're still ignorant,

Arithmetic, spelling, history, language,

None of those help you.

You are smart,

Some say you are above the rest,

While your nose is stuck in a book,

They're outside learning of the world.

What they know is more useful,

How to cook, clean, and change tires,

Can be a lot more useful,

Than knowing the value of pi.

You are an arrogant fool,

Who doesn't understand the REAL world,

And think you're above it,

Because you know some silly facts.

You can make it through school,

And maybe even college,

But you won't be able to tell,

Who on the street is worth trusting.

You may get a good paying job,

And a fancy house,

But you won't know how to protect,

The ones you hold dear.

You might know why the earth spins,

But you don't know how other people think,

Or why they do the things they do,

Because they don't teach you that at school.

Book smarts can be useful,

But without street smarts,

You won't make it past 30.

So please stop being arrogant fools,

And thinking that you're all that,

Because you know some trivial facts,

For when the world ends,

And all order is gone,

The book smart people will be the first to die,

And those who know the streets,

Will be the surviving victors.

Unless you can understand people,

And not only think about yourself,

Then there is a chance that,

Your existence will end.
