Suddenly, Forth blinked his eyes opened.
He needed a moment to adjust his balance. Long flights, especially intercontinental ones, always turned his internal watch and sleep pattern into a hot mess.
He checked his phone. It's still early in the morning. Way too early for his taste. After he ate and took a bath, he just fall asleep like a bear in the beginning of winter. And awoke with a mild headache that thumped his temple like a drum. This were the minus of long flight that he detest. The jetlag always hit him hard. Not to mention he will need to smooch up lots of people next week. And he had to get someone to bring there.
Forth already well verse that being alone in this kind of party were a big NO. The vultures in tight gowns and pristine faces with sharp manicure made him want to run a thousand miles towards opposite direction.
He often chose to bring attractive young men to this kind of party because that already a sign that he's not interested in making alliance using married proposition. He learned the lesson hardway when he bring a woman to one of this party. The shouting match earned him an interesting story to share with his colleagues.
A soft chime attracted his attention. It's a message from N'Ging. He reminded him that his date for next weekend will meet him this morning at 9, to give them sometime to know each other before they attend the party. It won't be confincing if they were so stiff towards each other.
He blinked several times to reread the message. Well, that's fast.
When he need this kind of help, people usually scoffed at him or brushed him off, thought he were joking. But with busy and tight project schedule, it was easier to use this kind of arrangement. No heart break or complicated relationship detail. Forth always treat his date with courtesy and if they wanted more, why he had to reject their proposition if he were interested too anyway?
Maybe his headache will be gone after he took a long hot shower. He needed to pick something for that event from his storage unit but he'll deal with it after meeting his arm candy. He only hope that whoever that is, he's decent.
What an understatement of the year.
=============================
Beam were.. could he said nervous? Yeah, it sounds better that scared. So, Beam were nervous.
After he gave his confirmation to Ging, he told both Kit and Pha. Their faces played an array of emotions from disbelieve, angry, scared, worry until it changed in to determination.
He remembered that particular expression.
It was the same with the one Kit had when he were in the middle of his exam, trying to do his best to pass his exam so all three of them could study together. It was on Pha's face when he shouldered Beam's body at his parents funeral. And somehow, he felt it settled on his face, just like when he chose to stop crying and start moving forward.
This morning, Beam picked a simple outfit to go out. He wore his lucky shirt, a blue and white short sleeve button up and a pair of khaki pants. He checked his message to see the address Ai Ging sent him. It's near Siam so it will be easy to reach using MRT.
After informing Kit while having a toast (he couldn't stomach more, no wonder here), Beam went out. All the way towards his destination, he thought about a lot of what if.
What if the person is fickle and reject him? What if he didn't like the person? Will that person got angry if he suddenly couldn't go on? Will he get alright? What they will do if they continue the plan? Seriously, there're a lot of 'what if' went on in his head.
Beam slapped his cheek to anchor his self. No, he must stay positive. Any good thing start with a good thinking. Beam disembarked from the MRT and went out from the station. He googled for direction then walked ahead.
This apartment complex were lux. Siam40 were one of the tallest and most expensive apartment complex in the area. Thank God Beam chose to dress accordingly. He almost went out wearing his usual black t-shirt, jeans and hat. But looked at the address, he believed he chose the right outfit. He passed thru the lobby and went for 35th floor.
The elevator gave a soft ding, alarming him that he'd arrived at the right floor. Time to seek out room number 7.
