Chapter 10-How to train a Skrill

After waiting for another few hours Hiccup finally arrived back with Toothless and no Skrill. "Hiccup!" You shouted, racing over and hugging him tightly "Where've you been?" Fishlegs asked as your brother sighed. "Its a long story.." You let go, looking at him with concern. "Or is it a very short story?!" Tuffnut said, opening Toothless' artificial tail fin, showing a Dragon Hunter insignia. "I never thought this day would come! SEIZE HIM!!" You looked completely baffled as Ruffnut launched herself at Hiccup, then Fishlegs dived on and Tuffnut on him. "Ok everyone get off of...everyone.!" You shouted, yanking Tuffnut off Fishlegs. "Just the thought of Hiccup being a Dragon Hunter! The very idea is ridiculous!!" Fishlegs scolded the twins, "Actually, lets not go quite that far.." Hiccup mumbled. You stared at him in disbelief.

"You let the Dragon Hunters cAPTURE THE SKRILL?!" You shrieked at Hiccup as he tried to calm you down. "It wasn't the plan (y/n)! The plan was to let them take it down and then we'd swoop in and capture it!" "But they got to it first?" Fishlegs completed the chain of events Hiccup was explaining as you started to get a little less angry. "So now Dagur has it again?! Now he's just gonna go on a huge rampage around the Archipelago!!" Snotlout pointed out at Hiccup as his father was making noises behind him. "I agree dad! I'm disappointed in Hiccup too!" You rolled your eyes. "They had some sort of new net-shooting catapult!" you and Astrid exchanged concerned looks as the twins rambled on about the two things you never expect, catapults and moral ambiguity. "Look theres no moral ambiguity here..I messed up..I really messed up..and I'm not sure how I an fix it.." queue gasps from the twins, "What now?" "We've never heard you say that before! You always know how to fix it!" "Yeah well, I'm not perfect..." Hiccup sighed, putting a hand to his forehead as you patted his back. 

"Who's painting am I going to have hanging above my bed?!" Tuffnut shrieked, earning a very concerned look from yourself and Astrid. "Ok first of all: that's creepy, second: you did what you could do to protect that dragon. Now the question isn't what you can do to fix it. It's what we can all do to fix it! As a team!" She told him, smiling brightly. You stepped towards her and smiled more at him. Astrid swung an arm around your shoulders and grinned "Now (y/n) here thinks she can train the Skrill!" She told Hiccup matter-of-factly. "Hiccup, you saw the way it looked at me for a second on Berk! There's always the chance that I could train it or at least earn it's trust and take the Dragon Hunters out!" You explained to him in a sort of pleading manner. Hiccup looked at you worriedly "I just don't want you to get hurt again.." "Hiccup, whats done is done. No matter how much I hate it, the fact remains that Abscon isn't coming back! And..I've learned to accept it..so please..let me try to move on!" Hiccup stared at you, in shock that his sister had become so wise over the past few months. "Ok..we'll give it a shot..but if the Skrill even so much as shocks you a little, me and Toothless are getting you out of there. Agreed?" He gave you a stern look as you beamed at him. "Agreed!" "So where was the storm heading Hiccup?" Fishlegs asked "East.." "So the Dragon Hunters would've taken it west so it can't harness the lightning!" "That's great thinking! There was an island just west of where they captured it, there were lots of secluded beaches and forests to hide in!" You grinned widely as you mounted Toothless behind Hiccup "Sorry about the extra weight Toothless..!" You apologized to him, the dragon making a small growl to show that he didn't mind it.

Snotlout's dad ran towards the campfire with 3 Dragon Hunters around it. Hiccup pulled you onto Toothless and you set off with Astrid and the twins to find the Skrill. You grimaced at the miserable dragons all locked away in cages, suddenly seeing a cage submerged in the water. "Hiccup!" You whispered, pointing to the cage with a cloth over it. "That must be it!" He whispered back as you 4 and your dragons went over. "its the only one submerged in water.." Hiccup got off Toothless quickly and rushed over to the cage, you barely kept up before he threw the cloth off it, revealing a very angry dragon. "Hey! Hey, I know you're angry because you're submerged in water, but we're here to help you!" He looked over at you as you rushed over. "I saw you look at my sister like you knew her the other day! She can help you! But you have to trust her..!" You looked at Hiccup and then the Skrill. You edged towards the cage nervously, the Skrill growling lowly in the dim light. "it's ok..I can get you out of here!" You whispered as your hand entered the cage towards the Skrill. Its pupils dilated a little before you heard a booming voice behind you that made you draw your hand back quickly and the Skrill glare and roar at the person behind you.
