Selena's POV:

"Don't you dare walk out of this house Selena!" My mom snapped at me.

I pulled on my coat and turned around on my heels to face my mom.

"Or what?" I asked, "You'll ground me?"

I saw the triumph sparkle in her eyes. Poor thing, she thinks she has won this little fight. Please, baby, she wasn't even close.

"If I have to then yes." She replied.

"Please." I scoffed, "I'm seventeen, what good do you think that will do? Hmm?"

I smiled in satisfaction as my mom's eyes narrowed but she didn't say anything. I turned back on my heels and pulled the front door open, greeted by the cold wind that danced off of my face.

Smirking, I glanced back at my mom who was practically shaking with anger, "Don't wait up."

I slammed the door shut and pulled my hood over my eyes, covering my ears from the wind and I shoved my hands into my pockets. I made my way down the dark street that was filled with fancy houses, owned my snotty, arrogant hot shots.
I hated this street and everyone in it for as long as I can remember. It was like wonderland. Everyone here was fake. The girls were so plastic that for me, it was hard to tell the difference between them and a Barbie doll. The men, well, they all hid the fact that they were nothing more than lonely bitter idiots by hiding behind their fancy cars and wallets full of cash.

I shook my head and started walking to the only place around this town that gave me happiness these days.
The park.
These days, the park was the only place that made me happy. Beside's my grandma's. She lives two states over so I really only get to see her on Christmas, Birthdays and those god awful family get together.
I'm pretty sure that she doesn't know about what my mom and dad are doing. If she did I'm sure that she would go absolutely mental. She's one of those ladies that believe that a marriage should be based on true love. If she knew that I was arranged to be married to a guy that I didn't know, she'd have a damn break down,

I shuffled across the grass into the park and made my way towards the swings. I plopped down on one and fixed my eyes on the grass, trying to get my head around everything.

"Why does all of the crazy shit in life have to happen to me?" I asked myself.

"Life's fucked up."

"I guess-" I clamped my mouth shut once I realized that somebody else answered.

I shot my head up and almost screamed when I saw a boy standing there with a lit cigarette sitting comfortably in his hand. He chuckled at my expression and I let out a sigh of relief.

"God dammit." I frowned, "Didn't anyone ever tell you not to sneak up on people in the dark?!"

"Didn't anyone ever tell you not to sit alone in deserted parks in the dark?" He shot back, grinning foolishly, "You never know who could be out there."

"Oh you mean like mysterious guys that sneak up on girls? Scaring them shitless?" I asked sarcastically.

"Exactly." He laughed.

I rolled my eyes, trying to stop myself from smiling.

"I'm Justin." He said, taking a drag from his cigarette, "But you can call me whatever you want."

He blew out a breath of smoke and winked at me.

"I think I'll stick with Justin." I smirked.

"Suits yourself." He shrugged, smiling, "So, what's your name baby?"

"Selena." I replied.

"Hmm, that's a nice name."

"Thank-" I started but he cut me off.

"But I think I'll just stick to calling you baby."

I raised an eyebrow, smiling slightly, "Look, Selena, I don't know what kind of girls you're after but I can assure you, I'm not one of them, you can either call me by my real name or don't call me at all."

"Oooh." He swooned, "Fiesty."

"Will you just-"

"Relax." He chuckled, raising his hands in surrounded, "I'll call you whatever you want me too...Selena."

"Good." I replied.

He sat down on the swing beside me and stared at me for a few seconds before speaking, "So, what is a fine girl like you doing sitting alone in a park?"

I shrugged, "I just had to get away from my parents for a little bit."

He took a deep breath and nodded, "Ah, they're annoying you, hmm?"

"That's an understatement." I mumbled.

He chuckled, "Glad I got away from my folks when I did, I was close to going crazy living with them."

".. I'm guessing you guys didn't exactly get along?" I asked.

"Yep." He nodded, "We couldn't even have a proper conversation without yelling at each other."

"So you moved out?" I questioned.

"Yeah." He smiled, "Best decision I've ever made."

And so our conversation went on from there.
Sadly, then I didn't know what I was getting myself into.
