~ Justin's P.O.V ~
I was slouched on my couch, drowning down a bottle of beer while staring blankly at the TV. I wasn't paying any attention to what was going on; I was too busy thinking about everything else that had happened.
I thought about me, Selena, her marriage, her parents and Chase. I hated myself knowing that I couldn't stop the wedding. I hated myself for giving her up so easily.
I brought the glass bottle to my lips and took another swig, allowing it to flow easily down my throat.
After a while there was a knock on my door. I rolled my eyes, not bothering to get up to see who it was. If I stayed quiet, whoever it was would eventually leave.
Whoever it was knocked on the door again. And again. And again.
I cussed to myself as I stood up with the bottle of beer in my hand and marched over to the door, pulling it open. Only to reveal none other than Selena's dad.
I glared at him as I went to shut the door but he pushed it back open.
I growled, "How the fuck did you find out where I live?"
"Asked around town." He replied simply.
I huffed in annoyance and continued to glare at him.
"Can I come in?" He asked.
"Depends." I snapped, "What did you come here for."
"To talk."
"Without your wife?" I gasped in mock horror, "She let you off the leash?"
He sighed, "Can I come in or not?"
I sighed, pushing the door open further to allow him enough room to come in. He gave me a thankful smile as he walked in. I rolled my eyes as I shut the door. I watched as he looked around the room.
"Ok." I said, "Talk."
He turned to me and let out a sigh.
"First off, I'm sorry for everything that has happened between you and Selena-"
I grimaced and looked at the ground, "If you came here to apologize then save it. I don't need your pity."
"Justin, I'm sorry, I don't know what else I can say."
I looked up at him and narrowed my eyes.
"If you think that by coming here and saying one meaningless word to me is going to make everything ok then you're wrong." I growled, "See, I don't really care that I had to hurt myself emotionally when I broke up with Selena, I care that it's her own god damn parents that are the cause of all of this. I care that you, her own father, would rather force her down the aisle to some guy who see barely knows than to see her being happy with a guy who loves her. Sure, I don't have nearly as much money as Chase does and I can't buy her sports cars or big houses but I can give her what Chase can't. A happy fucking life."
Her father sighed, nodding in agreement.
"I know." He mumbled, "And now that this whole situation is fucked up and I know that Selena is the one that's suffering and hurting the most in all of this."
"Then why do it?"
"Her mother wants her to have a good life. She wants Selena to have money and..Well, she wants our grandchildren to have good genes."
I scoffed in disbelief, "It shouldn't matter what genes her grandchildren have, rich or poor, dumb or smart, they're your grandchildren, you should love them either fucking way."
"Believe me Justin, I have tried to tell her that. But she doesn't listen to what I say anymore.." He shrugged, "What she says goes.. That's how she sees it."
"Who cares what she says?" I frowned, "You're daughter will more than likely hate you forever if you do force her down the aisle, did you ever think about that? Your only kid is always just going to see you as the man that forced her down the aisle."
"What-"
"You're her dad, of course you have a say in this. If you don't want her to do it then don't allow her! Maybe I can't stop the wedding but you sure as hell can."
Her dad stared at me in shock.
"You're right Justin." He told me.
I smiled slightly to myself, "I know."
He stared at me for another few seconds before allowing his lips to curve into a small smile.
"I should probably get home.. See if Selena came back yet."
"She didn't come home?"
"No she did.. But she got into another fight with her mother.. Ended up slapping her before storming out of the house."
"Selena slapped her?!" I choked out in shock.
Her dad nodded with a slight chuckle, "Yeah.."
I smiled at the thought. I smiled at the thought of the look that would have crossed her mother's face and the smile that would have crossed Selena's perfect lips.
Her dad made his way towards the door and pulled it open. He looked at me again and gave me a small smile.
"My daughter would be lucky to have a boy like you Justin." He told me, "Remember that."
"I'd be the lucky one." I murmured, glancing down at the floor.
He chuckled before walking out and closing the door behind him, leaving me alone with a smile on my face, knowing that Selena had finally given her mother what she deserves.
