Jerry walked out of the hospital. He had never really had a shift but he had helped where he could, instructing and guiding. There was no more he could do now. The Police officer who had taken his statement followed Jerry out of the hospital.
"What can I say DR Foster? You were a true hero." Officer Rhodes smiled at Jerry.Jerry shrugged looking at the sun for the firs time in a long time.
"The thing is about a tragedy...It brings out the worst in some people. However, in most others, it brings out the very best. I did MY best where I could. I just hoped it was enough."
"You saved lives Jerry.There would have been more than fifteen people dead if it hadn't been for you who had stepped up at the right time... It's people like you who put faith in humanity." Officer Rhodes clapped Jerry on the back and walked off. Jerry waited, watching the sun rise higher in the sky. It truly was a beautiful day to say I'm alive, he thought as he walked off to catch the bus.
