Chapter 41

For days I haven't been myself. The news that I couldn't have a baby has put me in a depressed state. My doctor even prescribed me anti depressants, but they don't seem to be working. I've been in my room for most of the time I'm here. I can definitely tell my state has taken a toll on Chris and everyone around me. I'm sure I'd die of heartbreak, but Chris is the only thing keeping me going. I wish I could get better and I try so hard for him,but I just couldn't do it. I had no willpower left in me. There was energy left in me. I stared at the wall as I lay in bed. I heard the door creak open, but I didn't roll over to see who it was. The guys flew in when they heard about the accident and have been staying here. I felt someone crawl into bed with me and a tiny arm wrap around me. When I turned to look at who it was I saw my angel, Madison. She snuggled into my side and I wrapped my arm around her. "Joey" she whispered. "Yah baby?" I asked softly. "You can't have a baby, but that doesn't mean you can't be happy. Uncle Chris loves you very much and so does everyone else. No one perfect and you just can't have a baby and that's ok, but it's not ok to mope around because you have to be there for the people you love too" she said. Damn she was smart for an 8 year old. I smiled at her "You know Mads I think you just made my day and you just made me realize that I do have kids. I have a lot of them too. I don't think I'd be able to handle a baby when I already have to babysit the guys" I laughed. She smiled and hugged me tightly. "Thank you so much Maddie" I whispered into her blonde hair. "I love you Joey" she said. "I love you too soo much you'll never understand" I said as I hugged her tiny figure. "Now get out of bed and come downstairs" she demanded grabbing my hand. "Yes ma'am" I said saluting her. She marched me downstairs. The guys were watching a football game and didn't notice us. I jumped over the back of the couch and onto Chris' lap. I kissed him passionately grabbing the sides of his face in my hands. His stubble scratched my palms, but I didn't mind. I hadn't noticed how much I really had missed him. We pulled apart and broke into a lopsided smile. I smiled back and kissed his forehead. "I'm sorry" I whispered. He shook his head and kissed me again "I'm just happy to have my baby back" he said against my lips. I laid my head on his chest and sighed. We sat like that for a long time in silence. I still had an empty feeling in the pit of my stomach and it would never be filled, but I'd live with it. No matter what I'd be happy with the people I love. I had a family and it was just as good as any other one. "Your mom wants you to go to her place so you can start the planning for the wedding" Chris spoke softly. I nodded and got up to change. I put on a baggy pair of sweatpants and an element t-shirt. I put on a pair of moccasins and put in my hair into a braid before walking back downstairs. "Well I'm heading out, Mads you wanna come?" I asked. She nodded eagerly and ran over to me. I grabbed her hand and walked out of the house with her. I grabbed her car seat and buckled her in. I started the car and we jammed out to Justim Bieber on the way to my parents. He sucks, but Madison loves him and I love her so I put up with it for a short car ride. We arrived and Maddie was more excited then I was to begin the planning for the wedding. "So do you have a date picked?" my mom asked. "Yep April 17th" I told her. "Ooo a spring wedding" she cooed. I nodded and continued to look through one of the many wedding catalogs my mom had stocked up on. "Ok what about the bridal party?" she asked. I grimaced I didn't have a lot of girl friends. "Well Katie is my maid of honor and Madison is the flower girl." I said smiling sheepishly. Maddie grinned widely at me and I winked at her. "Well you're going to need more then that, especially if the guys are going to be in the wedding as well" she said. "Yah I know, well Johnny's wife is awesome and Dave's wife and I are pretty good friends so now I've got 3" I said shrugging. My mom rolled her eyes and went back to looking through the magazines. Maddie grinned at me and I shrugged smiling at her. "Well since you don't have any of that figured out what about a color scheme?" she asked. "Well I was thinking maybe nude and ivory" I told her. She frowned "Don't you want some bright colors?". I shook my head "No I wanted a kind of vintage theme and those colors would go great with lace and pearls" I told her. I was shocked when she smiled "Well at least you're putting some thought into this and at least you didn't choose black". "Oh I was going to, but I knew you'd have a heart attack and Chris voted against it." I said laughing. She laughed and we got back to our browsing. "What about the dress?" she asked eagerly. "Well I was thinking me and you could go together" I said looking up at her. She had tears pooling in her eyes. "Of course I can't believe my baby is getting married" she cried. I rolled my eyes and Maddie hugged her. My mom wrapped her arms tightly around Maddie and the poor girl was practically being suffocated. Soon my mom calmed down and began showing me different ideas she had. They were great, but I had my own ideas in mind. "Well mom I said vintage and that means some of the classics so I wanted different vintage boards on every table with wheels in glass vases as the centerpieces." I told her. Her jaw dropped and she did not look pleased. "What the hell is going on in your head?" she said amazed.
